With the settling in of classes, students got into the daily routines of time in their special subjects (Music, Art etc) as well as getting to know new teachers who were around full time and part time. The congenial atmosphere of pleasant learning from friendly faces made the days right. With students field trips are always popular, such as this one. It was the Mass Media Class visiting a local radio station for an inside in-depth look at broadcasting. Other field trips meant going outside the building to fire off rockets that were home made and designed by industrious students.

A NEW SCHOOL YEAR! With the beginning of September the familiar yellow school buses which bring about 95% of our students to school began their runs. Summer romances, the luxury of just sunning around or having a full-time job making money turned to the task of again hitting the books, meeting new classmates, re- newing old friendships and biting the bullet to do better in school this year! HLCS was notified that Andrew Lanfear had been desig- nated a commended student in the 1984 National Merit Scholarship Program. Principal Leo Stengel noted Andy placed in the top five percent of over one million partici- pants in the twenty ninth annual merit program. The annual Fall pep rally did just that .. perked up students for another school year of rugged sports competition. At the Stuart M. Townsend Middle School WRGB News photographer Dom Figilomeni visited Art Classes. The high school Media Class also had students present to videotape his presentation for airing on Cable TV 10 and to learn some camera tips too.
