H I L I G H T S 7 4 Dedication With graceful appreciation the staff of the 1974 Hi-Lights dedicates this book to four charming women who have given much of their time and themselves to us. Mrs. Comeau was instrumental in giving ad- vice on the prom and more importantly being there whenever we needed to talk over any problems. Mrs. Rollman has been with us through the years helping in numerous activities. She's been painting for the prom, helping at the senior graduation reception, chaperoning. Thanks for being an interested parent and a most interesting Mrs. Jacqueline Comeau person. Mrs. Barbara Rollman Mrs. White is always there too! She's been right with Mrs. Rollman on all the above.. plus making some of the best cookies we've had! Her constant help along with Mrs. LeBarron in the cafeteria and media center have made H-L a better place. Actually it is a look at our community too, not just the school. The faces you see reflect the homelife of the students, the involvement of par- ents and interested citizens in activities at our classrooms and extra cur- ricular affairs, the exciting times in various classes and activities. We hope you can retrace your steps for the year as you look at the pic- tures that made that year. 5 Kindergarten KINDERGARTEN PM CLASS: LEFT TO RIGHT, SITTING, Cathryn Pratt, Sharon Goddard, Kath- leen Jenkins, Matthew Rayder, Charles Sceff, Monty Thomas, Thurland Ovitt, Timothy Allen Stacie Harrington, Clarissa Fish, Gary Allen. Eleven members of the sophomore class inducted were Karen Bourdeau, Diane Doubleday, Vernon Dunkley, Dorothy Stone, Audrey Wisell, Nanette Wright, Andrew Young and Patricia Zimmermann. Tom Zimmerman explains the symbol of the Honor Society. Perhaps more than in any other recent times parents became involved in daily classroom activities. Mr. John Eichhom, for instance, spent hours setting up sev- eral display case exhibits in the Middle School. He is seen left standing next to a display evolving about the Civil War. Below is seen some of the more than 500 soldiers and warriors in miniature that he had on exhibit. In the elementary school parents and interested mem- bers of the Mothers Club helped with the reading pro- gram for youngsters in grades 1-4. Mrs. Lois Root also had library aid help on a voluntary basis from parents and other citizens of the school community. The third graders had a parent spent some time teaching them basic conver- sational French. George Doherty and Guy Doubleday were New York State Regents Scholarship winners this year. Alternates to the scholarships are Francis Bourdeau, Kevin Wil- liams and Thomas Zimmermann. George plans to attend Albany Pharmacy College and Guy plans to attend Adirondack Community College. Thus events that occur after February 1 are not included. We are proud of our tennis and baseball teams and therefore show who was on those teams a year ago since they could not be included in last year's book and this year's (73-74) Spring teams could not be included in this book! Junior Prom aOSrtji., ‘ Socially the junior prom has to rank as the best dance of any year. Getting dressed up, special flowers, dinner out before the dance, transformation into another world at the dance. The 1973 prom had as its theme Midnight Sunset. Music by the Preludes. King and queen of the prom of 1973 were John Golden and Lori Siudy. RIGHT, the king and queen of the prom of 1972 were Jill White and Justin Hoffman. BELOW, Chris Martell chats with George Doherty and Frances Milmore. P Grade with what you believe the grade should be takes place several times a year for high school students. Of course the activity of school lunches is a daily affair, a time for good food, good times, good change of pace from classes. Checking The IBM The atypical day seemed to blossom as much this year as the typical days. However it was not everyday that the Middle School had a visitor with his pet mountain lion (LEFT). A Speech seminar class was not held in a classroom... but in an of- fice, sharing their words of wisdom with projectors, lamps, tv cam- eras, wigs for the school play etc. (LEFT). Mr. Taft gets pointers about bowling scores (ABOVE RIGHT) and that is unusal since normally he'd be collecting strikes. And certainly untypical is the crew (RIGHT) staying inside during lunch. We feel we should end this journey of the school year with a look at a very typical every- day situation... such as the three minute crunch between classes, a chance to visit lockers... or to catch up on the latest news before going to the next class or shooting bas- ketball shots during lunch period or just enjoying” school, friends, life! It is impossible in the number of pages we have available to capture anywhere near all the events of the school year. We hope with this memory book the few we have gotten will spark off warm thoughts of the 1973-74 school year for many years to come. Patrons Ms. Dana C. Baker Mr. Mrs. Boutelle Vivian M.
