HI-LIGHTS 72 HADLEY-LUZERNE CENTRAL SCHOOL LAKE LUZERNE, NEW YORK Presented by the Class of Nineteen Hundred Seventy Two Yearbook Advisor: Mr. Donald Racette i . f Editor’s Message I would like to thank all those people who have helped to make this year's HI-LIGHTS a great success. Without the help of members of the Senior Class, Patrons, Advertisers and most of all, Mr. Donald Racette, this yearbook wouldn't have been possible. I hope this yearbook will remain among your many happy memories of your high school years. Jane Wendell 2 Dedication The Class of 1972 dedicates this yearbook to a man whom we feel most certainly deserves it. This man, an advisor to our Senior Class, has stood by the class in every project we have undertaken. Besides his help to us as an advisor he has helped all those troubled seniors with their math. No matter how long it takes to help you solve the situation he is always there and willing to help. Because of these outstanding qualities, we the Class of 1972 dedicate our yearbook to. .. The Middle School will accomodate pupils in grades 5 thru 8. Present at the ground breaking was (front row, left to right) Joseph Werblow of Adirondack Construction Com- pany, Stuart Townsend, District Principal of H-L; Madeleine Beattie, Board of Education President; Louis Gabriel, Sabre Mechanical; and Samuel Jacobs, President of Adirondack Construction Company. Second row includes (left to right) Donald Perkins of Crandell Associates, John Rich of Rich Electric; Fred Alexi of Monahan G Loughlin and Norman Powers, Board member. In early February the construction had reached the bright day make the scene look like a section of the moon. Due for possible completion in 1973 the school will be a giant step forward for middle school classes. point seen here as steel beams amidst high snow banks on a very Elementary Day to day activities in the elemen- tary grades cover a divergence of pro- jects. Aside from the usual in-class studies, pupils get involved in special concerns. Of course a big favorite is an assem- bly. In the grades various classes group together for elaborate con- stumed pageants and plays. Naturally everyone who attends the shows is enthralled with the results. Aside from the routine day to day classes, there are times when Parent- conferences are held (below) and pupils especially enjoy those days. It means no school! It is a good time for teachers and parents to sit down and discuss a child's work and progress and to get and give tips on handling of different children. If there doesn't seem to be enough room in the move out into the hall.. . and set up additional case Mr. Watkin's group build individual study class, students can study spaces. In this carrels. Hustle And Bustle A long awaited event that occurs each Fall is the day when the firetrucks arrive and students in grades 3 thru 5 get to ride. There are times when high school and elementary get to- gether. .. such as during the annual poster contest at Halloween. Winners Richard Berg (8th grade) and Connie Bourdeau (3rd grade) are seen here. Future Teachers help grade teachers. High School SCHOC CENTRA In high school there are numerous clubs and extracurricular activities to get involved with. To be a member of an Honor Society is a little special treat as attested to by the officers of the Junior Honor Society seen left. Like wise getting involved in sports, dramatics, creative writing etc. makes much of interesting afternoons long after the 8th period final bell has sounded. In our school community students seem to spend a great amount of their time active in such extra-curricular affairs. You can't keep a good man down and it appears you can't keep a senior still. At least this crew is busy sprucing up the senior room. 8 A stroll in the yard during lunch is time to re- flect on what is happening around us. Activities Of the many dances that take place each year THE dance is the Junior Prom. Warm memories of beautiful flow- ers, big band sounds, that special date will live forever for those who attend. The hours of work and toil in making decorations etc. pay off in a few glorious hours in the dance each May. Other memories exist with the students who show their creativity in making their own clothing outfits. Each year Mrs. Varney's Homemaking classes exhibit their creations as seen below. The school play, the talent show, special assemblies. . . these and much more make up the myriad of activities students get involved with each year. Oh yes, then there are also the regular classes which become so much more with our staff such as congenial Mr. Corkland. Seventh Karen Waite and Michelle Reib en- joy a secret joke.
