Members of the Council for 1934-’35 are as follows: Seniors, John Liebl and Maude Gilroy; Juniors, Jim Williams and Ruth Hall; Sopho- mores, Dorothy Dean and Arthur Pratt; Fresh- men, Elsie Mann and Richard Hurd; Seventh and eighth grades, Geraldine Selaro and Thomas Priddy. The Student Council played an active part in the school throughout the year. It has been of much aid to the students and faculty in conducting and running activities of the school. They have been responsible for managing many important programs, of which the most out- standing are: High school assemblies; spon- sorship of two school dances, one at Taylor's Hall and the other at the Hadley Town Hall; securing an activity period of forty-five minutes in length twice a week; the procuring of the high school Christmas tree; the organization of a dramatic club, and the sponsoring of an amateur assembly. Handicraft Club The handicraft club under the supervision of Miss English has been a prosperous club this past year. It was organized for the pur- pose of making useful articles of a somewhat artistic nature. The club planned to devote half of the available time to weaving baskets and the remainder to making Christmas cards, Christmas wreathes, book marks, and paper flowers. A few individuals wished to try their luck at block printing. The first few meetings were devoted to cut- ting and twisting paper strips into a tight rope. Later a frame work was constructed from stove wire and about the frame work paper was woven. Each club member selected a different color scheme for his project. Much talent and skill was manifested among the various individuals as they shaped their baskets to conform with their individual tastes. Dramatic Club The Dramatic Club, under the supervision of John Brennan, was founded rather late in the year. The number of students who chose this club was inadequate for the carrying on of any full program. However, the club did manage to delve a bit into dramatic technique. The aims of the club were as follows: To further any interest the students might have in plays; to create a more active interest in the reading of modern plays, to acquire some knowledge of acting, costuming, stage make- up, and model stage and scenery making. The club worked on several cne-act plays, “The Grand Cham’s Diamond,” by Allan Monk- house, and “Finder’s Keepers,” by George Kel- ley. This gave some actual practice in acting, and moreover, much pleasure. Orchestra and Glee Club The orchestra and glee club have been very active throughout the year under the succes- sive leadership of Mrs. M. De Forest Lowen and Miss Doris Allerdice. The orchestra made their inaugural appear- ance at a recent program and was well re- ceived by the studen s and public. They will undoubtedly do one or two numbers at gradu- ation. The glee club successfully presented the operetta, “Green Cheese,” in December. This spring the club participated in the Adirondack League Music Festival at Bolton.
