Upon starting our Junior year gremlms and fhbberty g1bbets stlll we thought our Washington Trip was on the way to becomtng a reality when suddenly the face of all the world was changed on December 7 1941 Determination was etched upon the facades of us all Mr Gerber undaunted by the fact that we would be unable to make the traditional 1ourney led us onward Thornton Scott was elected chief executive Ray Benson reappeared as Vice President Evelyn Stevenson made her debut as Secretary and Marie lndriso was entrusted with the class capltal We made history in the magazine campaign by oreakmg all previous records Flibberty gibbet wonder Betty Carr was the super salesman and received her award at the dance given to celebrate our success We took over the management of the Haddon Higher and in the midst of our rapidly increasing fame we sponsored a singular prom on May the eighth All flibberty gibbets were granted school keys as their tokens As summer approached we volunteered our servlces to alleviate the farm labor shortage fit is remotely possible that one or two crass individuals mlght have regarded the work a a vacation? And so we settled down for the vacation to recuperate for our crowning year The fact that plans for our Washington Trip were merely phantom dreams did not disturb the sang froid of the now old and improved gremlins The international s1tuat1on grew grave and we devoted our efforts to the common cause We all worked 1n department stores and post of'1ces during the Christmas vacation volunteered our servlces as Iumor Defense Aides farm workers and aircraft warning observers Fast stations rolled bandages and made other Red Cross supplies The treas ury however d1d not go unnot1ced The crass had re elected Thornton Scott as Presldent Ray Campbell became Vice President VIIQIHIC Torr Secretary and Ray Benson Treasurer We furmshed the necessary refreshments for the hungry crowds at the football games and of course Treasurer Benson reloiced over the profits On November eighteenth and nineteenth we gave our senior play 'The Patsy which was a clever comedy dlrected by Miss Hillyer The prom on April thirtleth was our final social fling Our efforts to help 111 the emergency were only slight in comparison with the greater SGCI'll1CeS which some of our number made Our president of two years Thornton Scott along with Robert Aducat Iack Barrett Wes Blealrly Thomas Mutchler William Opfer Robert Radcliffe Norm Rainier and Frank Stallings added n w stars on the service flag Sooner than we had expected we were dropping our gremhn antics and settling down to serious business T e moving finger writes and having writ moves on to write of greater things But there is little more to 1nscr1be of the brxlhant success story of the bad llttle gremhns in their struggle for intellectual maturity All capped and gownecl we trod the last great steps in the history of our class and received those precious little documents which marked graduation-and the end of the Class of 43 25 getting rid of their title f1ibberty-gibbetsf' the girls cleaned first aid . . ,
