BOYS' BASKETBALL The boys' varsity basketball had one of the most disas- trous seasons in years, although there were some exciting and close contests, as in the Audubon game, which was tied and then lost in an.overtime period. The team seemed to improve toward the end ot the season. Harry I-lawn and Warren Sin- clair are the members ot the varsity to be graduated, and some other seniors who had been playing on the varsity dropped out before the conclusion of the schedule. When Mr. Lentz left our school, Mr. Cyrus Marter took over the coaching assignment for the last few games. The junior-varsity lost the majority of their games, owing largely to the fact that some of their best players moved up to the varsity about midway in the season. This experience should mean a better team next winter. The boys' freshman basketball team won two out ot five games played against freshman aggregations, and lost two others against teams ot older boys. Harry Bratt was the manager, and the team was coached by Mr. Calvin Adams. Klivqg I 1 . Y I . K ..,v-nn, . Bill Dost completed his collection of every league record in individual free- style events by taking the ZOO-yard swim in 2318.4 seconds. Five lettermen Will form the nucleus of this year's squad, and prospects are fair. They wil play a league schedule of nine games, against Camden, Auduf bon, Woodrow Wilson, Haddon Heights, Bridgeton, Vineland, Collingswood, Woodbury, and Millville, and three non-league contests with Audubon, Bridgeton, and Haddon Heights. Those members ot the team to be graduated are I. Anderson, Cargile, Convery, Hall, Mercer, Alleger, Searles, and Sinclair, as well as Co-Managers Test and Rainier. The team was under the direction of Mr. George Hawson, assisted by Mr. Edward Reiter. GOLF The golf team garnered its third championship of the South-Iersey Golf League last spring, and as tive varsity players are returning, should have an- other good season, Patsy Goldthorp, Bill Smith, and Charley Riegert are the members of the team who will be lost through graduation. The team was coached by Mr. Clarence Moll. BOYS' TENNIS The boys' tennis team had a good record last spring, winning three out ol four matches, and the return ot tive lettermen means good prospects for this season. They will again engage in league competition, playing Wood- row Wilson, Collingswood, Camden, Palmyra, and Riverside. The seniors who will be lost to the team are Ed Dale, Iohn Mather, and also Manager Kenneth Overbagh. The team was ably coached by Mr. I. Franklin Miller. GIRLS' TENNIS Last spring the girls finished the season with three wins and tive losses, but the matches lost were very close, With six ot last year's varsity players gone, the outlook for this season is uncertain. The girls will open the season with Bridgeton, followed by Collingswood, Paulsboro, Haddon Heights, Moorestown Friends, and Woodbury.
