Wisniewski. v QUILL AND SCROLL SOCIETY The Quill and Scroll Society, sponsored by Mr. Herbert Fisher,Q,is a ,national organization which honors students? whoihave done superior work in some phase of scholastic journalism. Membership is awarded to any'iunior,.o'r senior who is in the upper third of his class, who hasibeen recommended by the sponsor of his publication, and who has been approved by the National Executive Secretary of the Society. A HONORED STUDENTS Pete Wisniewski and Kathy Pusey were chosen as this year's delegates to Boys' State and Girls' State. The conferences, held simultaneously on the cam- puses of Rutgers University and Douglass College, are sponsored by the American Legion and the American Legion Auxiliary. Their purpose is to train the delegates in the principles of democracy and in the fundamentals of state government. Carol Glaspey, Lynne Johnson, Jackie Schwanda, and Vicky Westermaier served as delegates to Girls' Citizenship Institute, also held at Douglass College. Sponsored by local Woman's Clubs, the lnstitute's goal is to teach the delegates about state government and also about their role as citizens. Vicky was also chosen by the seniors and the faculty as the recipient of the D.A.R. Citizenship award. This award is based on service, loyalty, and dependability. HONORED STUDENTS Seated: C. NATIONAL SOCIETIES Selected on the basis of character, leadership, scholarship, and service to the school, National Honor Society membersware expected tqsgagct as exemplary good citizens forthe restiof the student body. Seniors in the upper third of their class and juniors in the upper fifth are chosen fortmembership by the faculty. Because the Evaluation 2', ffCornmittee criticized the passiveness of the Haddon Heights chapter, this year the Society has attempted to correct the situation. Under the direction of Gino Aureli, faculty ad- viser, the members took charge of the annual A.F.S.
