VARSITY SINGER The varsity soccer team had high ex- pectations this year with ten of eleven players from last year returning. Doug Gesick, Andy Klein-Flobbenhaar, and John Perkins led the team as tri- captains. The team was hoping to make the State Tournament. The spirit was there, but the wins were not, with a record of 3-10. Coach Edmorndson felt that if everybody had played well together, they could have been con- tenders for the Class S State Cham- pionship. One example of this was when H-K played a night game against Hand of Madison. Hand was ranked eighth in the state at this time. Even though the Cougars lost 1-0, H-K played up to, and several times better than Hand throughout the whole game. Hand's on- ly goal came with a minute and a quarter left to go in the game.
