Kluntz. l ln its most important meet of the season, the boys' track team fell l to Class S state champions Old Saybrook by only one point 75-74. i Dutstanding performers in this meet as well as for the entire season were Captain Eric Sodergren, top point winner Kevin Wagner, Kurt Schernmerling, John Theriault, Neil Wheaton, Chris Boyd, Robert Klein-Robbenhaar, Jeff Boyd, Brad Johnson, John Perkins, Doug Koekkoek, Scot Leavitt, Mark Wheaton, and Mike Gerity. The Cougars finished the year with an 8-4 record, a fourth place finish in the Shoreline Conference, and a seventh place finish in the Class S meet. One high point of this year was when Robert Klein-Robbenhaar, who only lost the javelin twice this year, won the school's second ever individual state championship in it. Matthews, Coach Klein-Robbenhaar The girls' track team had it most successfui season ever, finishing with a 7-3-1 record, a second place finish in the Shoreline, and fourth in the state. in its most important meet, the team defeated Hand of Madison for the first time in school history. Outstand- ing performers were the 4X400 relay of Debbi Kleinschmidt, Juii Amsden, Nancy Winschei, and Kate English which placed second inthe Shoreline and won the Glass S title: the 4X100 relay of Moity Keane, Jenny Heath, Juli Amsden, and Kate English: Leigh For- syth, Tina COPD. Liza Dineen, Debbi Kleinschmidt, Jenn Buckley, and Jen Bondi. ln the Shoreline meet, the girls overwhelmed the opposition by winning 5 of 10 running events.
