PRINCIPAL As all of you know, this year we lost someone very dear to us. Let us learn from the example she set for us. Life is a precious gift and should not be wasted. We should use the talents and abilities we have to the fullest. We should love one another and treat our fellow man with respect. Keep in mind the words of Grenville Kleiser: Your life is like a book. The title page is your name; the preface your introduction to the world. The pages are a daily record of your efforts, trials, pleasures, discouragements, and achievements. Day by day your thoughts and acts are being inscribed in your book of life. Hour by hour, the record is being made that must stand for all time. Once the word 'finis' must be written. Let it then be said of your book that it is a record of noble purpose, generous service, and work well done. All of us, young and old, should keep these words in mind as we live our lives. Each day should be dear to us and lived to its fullest. Pam LaFleur, Principal SCHOOL BOARD MEMBER 1987-88 has been a productive year for Hackberry High School. Regardless of many adverse happenings, Hackberry High and the Hackberry Community have rallied together and conquered, allowing us to surge forward. Economic conditions at present will make the going tough; however, by working together as a unit we can accomplish great things. We must give of ourselves in order to offer a top rate education for our children. They are the main commodity of our state. They arc our future and must be given top priority in order to flourish as our future leaders. A school is a school. But a community working together with a school establishes an educational facility that can be classified as nothing less than a No. 1 School. Let's continue to work for this classification. We have the formula (school personnel and students + community involvement = a No. I School ) to maintain this status, even with the economic crisis. We may have to tighten our belts, but let's not give our young people anything less than the best. They deserve the very best, and we must see to it that they get this — nothing less. Betty Seay And as far as I'm concerned 2
