Principal School Board Member Our school and community have truly been bles- sed this school year. It is not often that one sees the outpouring of support which we were fortunate enough to experience this year. From time to time, one hears criticism of ex- tracurricular activities taking away from academics. I feel the opposite is true. Our clubs and organizations contribute greatly to the development of such qualities as character, leadership, pride in one’s work, and consideration of one’s fellow man to mention a few. In addition, we have met with much success through club com- petition and officers being elected at the district and state levels. Our athletic programs develop similar qualities and have met with successes never before achieved at this school. I am proud of the accomplishments of our athletes and coaches and want to take the opportunity to commend them for a job well done. I also want to thank the community for its sup- port. Let us learn from our experiences this year and continue to work together to make Hackberry High School the best. God Bless All of You, Pam LaFleur, Principal We are born totally dependent, and every step we take toward adulthood is a step toward in- dependence and autonomy. There are times during these years that we feel things don’t always go right. However, when we do achieve our in- dependence, we should be able to take control of our lives and make things happen for us. There is a special art to living because things don’t always function the way they are planned. You have to be able to learn and profit from your mistakes and strive even harder to achieve your goals. There will be many challenges to be faced, but the harder you try, the easier things will get. The main thing is not to waste your time waiting for the world to give you the things you want. Work for them. Remember, you have to be able to climb the mountain in order to appreciate the view.
