I would also like to say to the community that we (the Yearbook Staff) need your help and support, for without you, there would not be a yearbook. This year the Yearbook almost ceased to exist. But with the hard work of a few of the staff members and Ms. Kauf- man, we have managed to put this wonderful book together. People don't realize how much money it costs to put a yearbook together. We were forced to raise the price of the yearbook to $20.00 this year because of the price that we pay was very steep. I hope that you will enjoy this book as much as we have enjoyed putting it together for you. Thanks for a wonderful four years. Good luck next year! Sincerely, 122 Roy Trahan, Editor School Board Member’s Message 1 am honored to have the opportunity to speak to you through this year's Yearbook, and hope that in some way my remarks will help you. I firmly believe that many of you are the future leaders of our community — maybe even of our nation. However, leadership does not come easy; it is achieved through self-analysis to determine how one can help another and by giving of one's self in the actual helping of others. Many people believe that leaders are born — not made.” This is not true. We are all born with the equal opportunity to work toward achieving leadership. Some do this by study, determination and application, while others do nothing. I learned several traits and qualities during my years as a 4-H Leader, and have tried to abide by them ever since. 1 would like to share some of these with you now. One should have a sense of responsibility. Do what you agree to do and be conscious of the example you set. One should be sociable and friendly. Always meet people with a smile and listen attentively. One should be sincere. Believe what you say and say what you mean. Do not pretend. One should be enthusiastic. Show enthusiasm for anything that will bring about improvement; enthusiasm is contagious. One should have integrity. Be honest with yourself and with your fellowman. Respect others and be a good sportsman at all times. One should have self-control. Be able to think clearly. Don't let your emotions keep you from making wise and unbiased decisions. One should be tactful. Always say what is proper and respectful. Being able to say the right thing to the right person at the right time is very important. One should develop his or her abilities. Special interest, combined with hard work, can develop real abilities. One should be a good follower. This may help you acquire new ideas and techniques, and it lets others know you are also interested in their views. Many people don't care to become leaders because they have the false idea that they would have to boss others. The following, author unknown, explains the difference between bossing and leading. The boss drives men — the leader guides them. The boss depends on authority — the leader on good will. The boss creates fear — the leader develops confidence The boss assigns tasks — the leader sets the pace. The boss says, I — the leader says, We. The boss says, Go — the leader says, Let's go. The boss fixes the blame for the breakdown the leader fixes the breakdown. So, all of you, don't be afraid to strive for leadership. That is one of the many great opportunities offered by our school systems today. Just remember, leadership is earned through education and hard work — not by indifference and laziness. Congratulations Patricia and Alan. We see Dana Da-Da Toups moving to Creole, living in a two story gray house, driving a customized duley, and owning Hit Tarpon Freezo with Trina as the manager. Romeo, Romeo, where art thou Romeo? Yes here he is, David Richmond at 85 years of age in his motorized wheelchair, thinking of himself as a suave, debonair, LADIES MAN. Dream on Dave! We see Sonya Triple S Seay finally arriving at school on time. We see Jackie Black Nunez finally going out without playing in ditches. We see George Landry finally going out without getting left in Lake Charles. The year is 2020 and there in the summer Olympic games, Hackberry is finally represented by our own Theresa Legs Jinks, she has just won the 200 meter dash with Hokey still chasing a lap behind. We seejacky Gray finally learning how to drive down Ryan street and find THE TRUCK at the same time. We see Shawn LaBove auditioning for an act at SWOOP S PALACE. Baby you ain't seen nothing yet just take a look at Carol Kibodeaux, sure enough she invented a permanent, instant tan and with her profits now owns Holly Beach. We see Tony Legs Pooser getting a pair of correction shoes so he can walk without tangling his feet. The old saying The shy and quiet are the ones to look out for, well sure enough, we the Juniors have to believe this because here our own Kelly Wilson has taken over Xavier Hollander's House of Ill-Repute and has as her chief business manager Roy Lynn. We see Alan Myers becoming the first psychiatrist in Hackberry because THE NOSE” knows. We see Anita Walther sitting through one of Mr. Broussard's English classes without laughing until she is blue in the face. We see Theresa Miss Trivial Hebert selling her own version of Trivial Persuit world wide. As we travel down the river Kelso, we happen upon Marlapatra Landry drifting along in her floating palace while sitting on her throne and being fanned by her chief slave Angie L. We see Patrick Broussard becoming Holly Beach King with Angie Touchet as Holly Beach Queen. .Just ending his term, as President of Fantasy Island, Roy Lynn Trahan has accomplished more than any president we know, what other macho, red head with such fraternal love for his sister would grant her a one way ticket to the frozen waste land of Siberia during his Presidential term of office.
