TABLE OF CONTENTS ADMINISTRATION 5 HIGH SCHOOL H JUNIOR HIGH 11 ELEMENTARY 27 ORGANIZATIONS 39 ATHLETICS 51 FAVORITES 65 ACTIVITIES 79 ADVERTISING 113 FOR THE FUN OF IT ALL The Yearbook Staff of 1981-82 would like to dedicate this yearbook in memory of two dear friends — Liz Sanders and Julie Trahan. There are times to weep, times to think, as well as times to be glad. Sometimes, we forget to think of the times we have already had. As we remember the times gone past, We most always remember the best or the last. I remember one beautiful as the day is long. If only these words of thought could be put to a song. Oh, such a beautiful song we would hear; I am sure the song would be as are the seasons of the year. More exciting and pretty in the Days of Spring, More glamorous in the Days of Autumns leaves on a wing, I write this poem with gracious memoris of youth so dear to us in many ways. Memories of smiles, shiny eyes, and a happy voice which will always be here to stay. Stephen E. Racca, Sr. 2 Little Angels” When God calls little children to dwell with Him above, We mortals sometime question the wisdom of His love. For no heartache compares with the death of one small child, Who does so much to make our world seem wonderful and mild. Perhaps God tires of calling the aged to His fold, So He picks a rosebud before it can grow old. God knows how much we need them, and so He takes but few. To make the land of Heaven more beautiful to view. Author Unknown When I want your opinion. I'll ask for it! This is embarrassing! 4 I'm washing! I’m washing! I’m warning you. I’m dangerous! Principal SCHOOLBOARD MEMBER'S MESSAGE Congratulations to the yearbook staff, sponsor, and all who have contributed to this yearbook. The following was written by Donald A. Hunt and I wish to offer it as food for thought to all who look at this yearbook. SUCCESS “All men seek success. Few men can define that which they seek. The key to success is SELF DISCIPLINE. Self discipline breeds SELF RESPECT. Self respect breeds SELF CONFIDENCE. Self con- fidence breeds that which you seek ... success. Self discipline combined with faith in God breeds RIGHT JUDGEMENT and WISDOM. Wisdom gives you tha ability of RIGHT SENSE OF VALUE. You then realize success is not always financial riches, but instead it is PEACE OF MIND which gives you HAPPINESS. Peace of mind is attained by practic- ing the GOLDEN RULE. In turn, he who lives by the Golden Rule shall be blessed abundantly on this earth. Thus, he who seeks success in life, must first SEEK CONTROL OF SELF. 10 PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE As time passes, students should periodically review their progress. Consideration should be given to items such as grades, club or athletic responsibilites. relation- ships with friends, family responsibilities, and community and church involvement Ask yourself if you have studied and applied yourself. Have you performed tasks assigned by coaches or club sponsors? Did you reach out to help a friend in need; or did you say, That's not my problem. ? Were efforts made to get along with other family members, and were your parents given the respect they deserve? Have you done anything to make this community a better place to live? And finally, have you given to God His share of your time and efforts? When evaluating your progress remember that in the final analysis you should not measure your success by what you have accomplished, but by what you should have accomplished with your ability. The trip begins with you being assigned to a city with about 20 other young men from differing locations around the state. As the Boys' State went into gear, the city officials were elected and the city laws went up. As so did parish officials were elected and their laws went up. When laws were broken it was my job. being the police chief, to administer them. I actually saw the court case go through from the arrest to the arraignment. By the time this week and one day was over, we had elected a government, and governor, and any other job you would care to know about. I say one thing about Boys' State — You didn't get very much sleep, but it was an experience I wouldn’t trade. What is Girls' State? Girls’ State is an imaginary state which is run like Louisiana and the other states. It has real cities and parishes. Two cities make a parish. Everyone attending Girls' State holds an office and helps run the city. Offices include everything from Mayor to Coroner. A person can even run for Governor. Every city competes against the others. Yells, happy songs, sad songs, and projects are the categories in which each person competes. Each city must develop a project for improvement of their own area. The city engineer must draw up actual plans, the same as an architect would. The plan must be reasonable and economical. Each person has a part at Girls’ State. No one is left out. Anyone who attends Girls' State leaves with some idea of how government really works. 80 Stephanie Goodrich Miss Cameron Parish April Leger Pebbles Hicks — Fur Festival Contestnat 82 Mr. Cameron Parish Dusty Jinks 1st Runner Up Miss Cameron Parish Tiffany Sealy FBLA HAUNTED HOUSE Little Hulk Cute Couple Lunch Time Aren't We Cute Honey Mooners Sleeping Beauty 83 HOMECOMING QUEEN Bitsy Shove Bitsy is being congratulated by our 1980-81 Queen Lisa Byler. •abrina Winton, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alvie Winton, is being scorted by her father. 86 Stephanie Goodrich, daughter of Mr and Mrs. Tommie Lynn Goodrid is being escorted by her father.
