ANOTHER YEAR WITH THE BEST beauty is in the eye of the eholder What do I say now? Hackberry High School Alma Mater Far across the sweeping prairie With its lovely hue Stands our noble alma mater Glorious to view Lift the chorus, speed it onward Loud her praises tell Hail to thee our alma mater Hail, Hackberry, Hail. I said I was sorry. Is my lunch ready yet? How sweet it is! 1 DuLie of Contents daculty.....................................5 _Administration.......................... 10 Classes....................................11 Orcjaniza tionS............................31 Sports.....................................41 dauoriteS..................................55 Slctiuities................................69 Ms........................................ 107 FctCuJuy High School Lloyd Broussard English v JOm Nk. y- ra Robert Sheffield Social Studies J Rita Walther Science Mary Baker Business Terry Murphy Boys P.E. I would also like to take this opportunity to urge everyone concerned to strive to make the 1981-82 school year better than 1980-81. I would like to share the following, the source of which I don't know, but feel that it contains a great deal of truth: THE MOST VALUABLE THING I am the most desirable thing in life. Without me no one can be healthy, happy, or useful. Without me, hidden wealth and vast resources of this earth would have no value. Men and women who try to get along without me are characterless, selfish, undeveloped, useless, and unprofitable members of society. I am behind every fortune, every art and science, every achieve- ment, every triumph of man. Rich men and poor men alike often try to find substitutes for me, hoping thereby to secure a larger measure of happiness, peace, and satisfaction, but they are always bitterly disappointed. Instead of gain, every substitute for me brings them infinite loss. As the creator is greater than the creature, so am I greater than wealth, power, fame, learning, or any other acquired possession or quality of many, because I am the source from which he acquired them. I AM WORK!!! 10 There are efforts and there are results. And it is the strength of the effort that usually determines the size of the result.” E. F. Girard As we measure the results of this school year we see many areas in which the planning and hard work resulted in success. However, we will also find areas in which we need to improve. These areas will be the ones in which we put the least amount of effort. Each of us — faculty, staff, parents, and students — need to evaluate our progress this school year. We need to set our goals for the next school year. But more importantly we need to put forth the ef- fort needed to achieve these goals. The greater the effort, the greater the results. Let's work together to make the 1981-82 school year one of maximum effort and outstanding achievement. John A. We see Frank B. finally trapping a girl instead of muskrats. We see Bill M. getting over Stephanie and pulling the dents out of his truck. We see Sir Samuel Baley going to LSU like his Dad always wanted, and becoming the new mascot. We see Stacy G. letting Quentin walk 3 inches away from her to talk to a female without getting mad, even if it is Mrs. Walther. We see John L. no longer an accident looking for a place to happen.
