1971 MUSTANG Contents FOREWORD DEDICATION ADMINISTRATION FACULTY CLASSES FAVORITES ORGANIZATIONS ATHLETICS ACTIVITIES ADVERTISEMENTS Foreword Our annual is now complete, and we, the annual staff, are proud of our efforts. It has not been an easy task, but we have enjoyed every minute's work toward the completion of another treasure chest of pleasant memories of the days at Hackberry High School. I appreciate the opportunity of serving my school as editor of the 1971 MUSTANG, and I will always consider it an honor to have been selected for this position. CO-EDITORS: Deannie Parker Linda Bufford Dedication TOP ROW: Tom Riggs, Glenn Vincent, Joe Devall, Deannie Parker, Mike Schexnider, Diane Ducote. BOTTOM ROW: Glenda Schexnider, Linda Bufford, Stephen Lowery, Gwen Reasoner, Tonia Penny and David Hinton. Editors Mrs. LaFleur Mr. Parker Staff Members and Their Duties H.H.S. Campus ADMINISTRA PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE I wish to express my sincere appreciation to the Yearbook Staff and Sponsors for their dedicat- ed efforts toward putting together another superior yearbook for OUR H. H. S. Our School session 1970-71 was another success- ful year for Hackberry High School. I wish to thank and compliment all who helped to make it so. I offer the following thoughts to all who may read our 1970-71 yearbook: Your life is like a book. The title page is your name; the preface pages are a daily record of your efforts, trials, pleasures, discouragements, and achievements. Day by day your thoughts and acts are being inscribed in your book of life. Hour by hour the record is made that must stand for all time. Once the word finis must be written. Let it then be said of your book that it is a record of noble purpose, generous service, and work well done. Those were words of wisdom written by Grenville Kleiser. SCHOOL BOARD MEMBER’S MESSAGE I would like to once again thank the members of our fine community for the opportunity of serving on the School Board. The past year has been a successful and reward- ing year, and with the continuing work and support of the community, I know the years to come will be even more successful. Thank You FACULTY H.H.S. It seems to me that the developing of young men from eager boys is a major point to be considered. The building of character, pride, generosity, and honesty, all make up the primary foundation that a coach tries to help mold into a young man through participation in organized high school football. If these things are accomplished then truly all of the sweat, tears, and disappoint- ments are not in vain. Since only the future can reveal whether or not a man has been molded from the mortar of a boy, the things that are truly worth evaluating must be left to those days that have not yet come to pass. If it may be that one boy from our 1970 football team found a start in man- hood from his experience on the field, then the past season was worth it.
