BASEBALL TEAM Morales, Murphy, Moretti, Guerra, Farley. of the track fvarsityj was on its way out. Other relay teams came to life with Abe Mottel, Melvin Jonathan, Ed Fitzroy and Bill Jones, who at the Boro and City Championships, became champions. Don Showell equalled the record of the 220 yard dash. He came out with the crown of the City Champs. Milton Roberson successfully came in first, running the 1,000 yards in very good time. He too was crowned a City Champ. The Blue and Gold is well on its way as one of the top schools in the world of sports. Mr. Laster, Coach ofthe Rifle Team, has done very well in the past sea- son with his team. This team has joined the National Rifle Association. With the fine coaching of Coach Chanin the soccer team placed among the top three in Manhattan. The swimming team, with the coaching of Mr. King, placed third in the City. Mr. Wertheim's team had a little difficulty this year with the loss of his stars. This year the team has a better height aver- age with Bert Ferguson at 6 ft. 3 in. and Tommy Giles at 6 ft. 4M in. The other men showing talent are John Gibson, Dan Ford, Harry Howard, Ginger Francis and Art Reddick. It seems too that Coach Greenspan has another combination of medal winners with Bill Jones, A. Meachem, Bob Egstrom, Bob Fitzgerald and Abe Mottel. Now as we prepare to leave Haaren, we carry away one thought. Win, lose, or draw, if you are not a sport, you are starting in life at a loss!
