Flsf Row Mohandle, Lozano, Glanchoway, Lobrado Perez Gilbert. . . f ...Tm It has been said that if you want to meet a grand lot of sportsmen, you can always rely on the men from the Blue and Gold. As we flash back to our freshman year, the fall of ,51, the old colors were having their ups and downs in the athletic Held. At the close of the basketball year the team came to life with a five man varsity team working. With their new coach, Mr. Wertheim, they were bound to come through. Within less than two months, he had his team on the way. At the close of the season he had made four men stars: Henry Williams, Radcliff Davis, Harold Johnson, and Edwin Keusey. As the freshmen came into the school, there came with them a lot of outstanding athletes. Two of them made history in the track world, for no one can ever forget Seymour Bunyan and Ed Gardner. It was the Hrst time in the history of Haaren that it had two city champs, As we entered the spring season, the Blue and Gold relay came to life with the basketball and track teams showing great progress with the soccer team having such an outstanding player as Willy Schaller. He brought honor and glory to both himself and his school. He was chosen as a participant player of soccer and was sent to the Olympics at Helsinki in the sumer of 552. Also in the limelight was Tony Anthony. a boxing hero. Anthony had fought from Kansas City to Boston. He was a winner of the Golden Gloves Tournament held in New York and a winner of ww x SWIMMING TEAM CDelgado, Labenski, Nikolofl, Carbiaj Last Row: Rumph, Harwell, Berlinguette, Henry Watson Hushin.
