Here are the General Organization oilieers, the men who head your G.O. From left to right they are: President Griffin, Vice President Aversano, Secretary Francis. Seated is Mr. Weissenberg. G.O. Adviser. The G.O. othcers this term are backed up by experience. This is the second term of office as President of the General Organization for Joe Griflin. Before that he was Treasurer for one term. He also served on the Dance, Election and Publicity Committees. He has been a member of the City, Manhattan Council and a class delegate to the G.O. The G.O. is the students' organization. It sponsors all the teams and clubs that make up student-life in Haaren. The G.O. pays for uniforms. equipment and all the other materials used by our teams and clubs. Under the supervision of the Chairman. Vice President Aversano, and President Griffin, the Dance Committee sponsored a dance with Washington Irving. The achievements of this committee is shown by the low cost of admission, free refresh- ments and a dance contest and door prize at no extra cost. As usual everybody enjoyed themselves. femur Council Fernandez, Narral, Husl-lin, Farley. This term's Senior Council should be congratulated for its fine Senior activity. The Council consists of two representatives from each graduating class, and four senior ollicers elected by over three hundred seniors. They are: President Raymond Narral, Vice President Robert Farley, Secretary Paul Hushin, Treasurer Robert Fernandez, and Mrs. Strunsky. Adviser. The Council prepared the Senior Day Outing Bus Ride to Bear Mountain where there it arranged inter-class baseball games and various other events. The Council also organized a dance club in prepara- tion for the Prom with Miss Weisner as dance instructor. This year's Prom was held at the beautiful Keystone room of the Hotel Statler. The Council also arranged a Senior Hat Contest and the winning hat was put on exhibition in the library. The Senior Council for the graduating class of January 1954 chose for oflicers, under the supervision of Mrs. Strunsky, President Paul Streichert, Vice President Hector Sanchez, and Class Representatives Lyle Beach and William Gallowitz. The honor society of Haaren is a city-wide organization known as Arista. It is comprised of the boys who have proved their wartn in scholarship. service and character. Many who apply for admission find the requirements for Arista rigid and, therefore, have difficulty meeting them. But those who are accepted have the twofold satisfaction of having contributed to their own personal achievement and to the high standard of the school. Bro dem! It seems that people have always looked for a way to preserve their ideas for posterity. The cavemen carved their thoughts and experiences on the walls of their Caves. The ancients prepared a product from papyrus and recorded their own events on it. ln thc past lew centuries we have put down in writing our daily activities in newspapers. lt shall he said in future years that the important happen- ings of Haaren High School were covered and recorded in a tablet called The Broadcast.
