The Future Teachers of America help the high school stu- dent to learn about the teaching profession. Members of FTA sponsor various projects throughout the year to help in the improvement of the school. Miss Veda King sponsor of FTA guides the members in their pro- Jects. At the beginning of each semes- ter members sold bookcovers. Be- fore Christmas they collected a box of food for a needy family. The debate teams attended several tournaments throughout the year to prepare themselves for the annual UIL meet held on April 3. Four debate teams consisting of two girl's and two boy's teams presented their opinions of this year's issue, resolved: that nuclear weapons be controlled by an international organization. Miss Olita Parman and Mr. James Fanning, sponsors helped them throughout the year and accompanied the teams on out-of-town tournaments.
