Pat Garcia, assistant editor, Miss Lucy Zamora, journalism student teacher, Mrs. Rubina Schroeder, sponsor, and Phyllis Schoettle, editor discuss head- line types. An annual is a reference book and permanent record of the school year. To a member of the staff, however, the yearbook represents the IGDSSDSSS before deadlines, when pressure is high. The pace quickens, and somehow the pictures are printed, the copy written, pages drawn up, finished, checked, double checked and finally mailed. The first emotion after the shipment of copy is relief, then exultation. I4 ABOVE: Sports editors R. A. Kennedy and Billy Boyd discuss football layouts. LEFT: Sophomore editors Frankie Jo Thomas, Ellen Fein, Suzanne Conner, and Irma Mendoza check and recheck the list of sophomores.

Round-Up For twenty-nine consecutive years the Brahma Round-Up has been published every two weeks by the journalism classes of King High. An increased interest in journalism and the Brahma Round-Up this year resulted in two classes. All journalism students work on the news- paper in addition to regular class work. For each paper two students serve as issue edi- tors. This method gives everyone an op- portunity to work at the print shop at least once during the year, For many years the Brahma Round-Up has been a member of the Interscholastic League Press Conference and this year joined the National Scholastic Press Association, Both organizations offer helpful suggestions and criticisms. In 1938 the Brahma Round- Up became affiliated with Quill and Scroll, international honorary organization for high school journalists. This charter was renewed in the spring of 1963 and has been active ever since.
