DECLARATION OF In 1776, the colonists, realizing their potential as a nation, drew together and declared their in- dependence from Great Britain. In the spirit of our ancestors, we, the graduating class of 1976, realizing our own potential as in- dividuals, declare our independence from Hoffman High School. Unlike the thirteen colonies who wanted no further relations with England, we don’t want to dis- solve our ties with Hoffman. The years we have spent here will hold a special place in our memories. As time goes on, we'll look back at the pages and pictures in this book and we'll recall how we were shown a little bit of LIFE, and grew some; how we were given LIBERTY, and learned responsibility; and how we have thoroughly enjoyed ourselves in the PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS. INDEPENDENCE 8
