Our four years at Hoffman will soon become a part of our past and we will depend upon our yearbook to help us remember them as special ones. Because we are the graduating class of our nation's bicentennial year, we have had the responsibility to make our book something above average. I hope we have succeeded. I would like to thank the staff, all those who have helped us and especially our advisor, Mr. Poll. THE PURSUITOF HAPPINESS For the past two hundred years, the American ideal has been Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness. We have chosen as the theme of our yearbook, The Pursuit of Happiness. We feel this is the most important part of our past heritage and also of our future life. The greatest thing we can learn in school, or anywhere, is how to be happy. To share good times with friends and relatives is what Americans of all ages hold as one of their most pre- cious rights. 3 DEDICATION We, the class of 1976, would like to express our deepest thanks to Mrs. Febronia Grener. As a token of our appreciation, we are presenting you with the dedication of Notre Livre . You have been an inspiration to all of us. Through your everlasting support, your strength and your encouragement, you became more than a librarian, you became a friend. Your cheerful moods and friendly smiles let us share many happy moments together. As one of the best years of our life ends, we leave having been touched by your friendship and take that friendship with us through the rest of our lives. 4 You'd be happy too, if you just found a $10 bill in Great Expectations. O,K,, We're really gonna get tough now! You want to read page what? Of what book? Alma Mater Our hearts leap up as we behold Thy name across the sky Set in stars as time unfolds Thy name shall never die. Dear old Hoffman Alma Mater Thy honor we'll uphold Loyalty and deep devotion For the purple and the gold Dear Hoffman. Hail to thee Our Alma Mater Hail to thee for aye Your's to nurture every student Your's to glorify. 6 DECLARATION OF In 1776, the colonists, realizing their potential as a nation, drew together and declared their in- dependence from Great Britain. In the spirit of our ancestors, we, the graduating class of 1976, realizing our own potential as in- dividuals, declare our independence from Hoffman High School. Unlike the thirteen colonies who wanted no further relations with England, we don’t want to dis- solve our ties with Hoffman. The years we have spent here will hold a special place in our memories. As time goes on, we'll look back at the pages and pictures in this book and we'll recall how we were shown a little bit of LIFE, and grew some; how we were given LIBERTY, and learned responsibility; and how we have thoroughly enjoyed ourselves in the PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS. INDEPENDENCE 8 LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT We, the members of the Senior Class of Hoffman High, being of sound mind and memory, do make, and declare this to be our Last Will and Testament We have in mind, and deliberately make the following provisions; I, Bryan Applegate, hereby leave a pocket camera to Mr. Medwick.
