POSTAL STRIKE ALMA MATER Our hearts leap up as we behold Thy name across the sky Set in stars as time unfolds Thy name shall never die. Dear Old Hoffman Alma Mater Thy honor we'll uphold Loyalty and deep devotion for the purple and Gold dear Hoffman. Hail to thee our alma mater Hail to thee for aye Your's to nurture every student Your's to glorify. PREFACE After many months of disagreement, hardships, hard work AND fun we have finally reached the completion of Our Book . We hope it will be filled with enjoyment for all. This book could not be made possible without the help of Mr. Poll, our advisor, the staff, the co- operation of the administration, faculty and the student body. At this point we would like to thank them for their assistance. The Senior class of nineteen hundred and seventy-one would now like to take this long awaited moment to introduce Notre Livre . Co-Editors 2 Mary Theresa Bobck Susan Kijowski No one can really forget the good and the bad in life. Ken always looked for the good and lived down the bad. A ready smile along with a What's up? , described this easy going guy. But now tragedy has reached out and claimed Ken, leaving only a memory. The graduating class of nineteen hundred and seventy - one dedicates this page to Kenneth Blaha, graduate of H. G. Hoffman High School in nineteen hundred and sixty-nine. We Remember . . . 3 E u g e n e S. D 0 b r z y n s k 1 S U P E R I N T E N D E N T P R A d a m W. M a r t i n P A L DEDICATION The never ending whirling cycle of the life of Harold G. Hoffman High slows to focus on 1971. The spirit at Hoffman is shown by many. This quality comes alive, by the action of a gentleman who has dedicated so much of himself to the Senior Class. There are not enough words to express our feelings, nor, a way to show our deep appreciation for his guidance. It is with pride and gratitude the 1971 Notre Livre is dedicated to Mr. Andrew Kriss, a faculty member who will never be forgotten. 6 Did someone say my snake got out? Suzy WHERE ARE YOU GOING . . . Dennis JAMES CRODDICK -- Jim has all the moves to score -- quick hands and good speed -- and is a very good rebounder for size. He stands 5ft. lOin. at 1551bs. and has an excellent outside shot. He played as guard and is the key to the teams success. DANNY PAONE -- 6ft. 1851bs, returning from a knee injury proved to be an asset to this years 1970-71 Varsity team. He has a good eye, good speed, and is good off the boards. Danny likes to drive and al- ways gives that 100 . DENNIS YANOSKI — He can pass and defend with the best. The 6ft. 1701b. Varsity player has terrific spring, which gives him an impor- tant position in the defense department. Dennis handles the ball well and his attitude and desire are tops. TOM WORTLEY -- A hard working center, at 6ft. 2in., assists the plays and protects the boards with the best. Chet is an important de- fensive asset to the ball club. Danny Chet PAT QUINLAN -- 5ft. lOin. has the ability to rebound. He enjoys the game holding a high interest in his team. Pat would rather defend, pass, and help assist the plays than score. MIKE COLUCCI -- Mike handles the ball with style and has an ex- cellent average from the charity line. He is 5ft. lOin. at 1801bs. and has the desire and attitude needed to be a Varsity player. Nice crew!! “NOTRE LIVRE” 103 FAREWELL Speaking on behalf of our staff we have enjoyed sorting and fitting all the highlights from this year together; it has been an exhausting but rewarding experience. It is our hope that the time we spent edit- ing this book will be minute comparison to the enjoyment you receive when reading the Notre Livre now and in years to come . . . We choose one road; the road we select branches as we find it will do many times throughout our lives. With mixed emotions we leave Hoffman High and pursue other endeavors. The little school isn't an end in itself. It is our stepping stone towards a better life. Lets take advantage of what she offers and then move on . . . 104 Congratulations from the South Smboy P.T.A. The players all work especially well together and every game won has been accomplished with team work. This year the Guvs took the sting out of St. Marys, So. Amboy, in the Monsignor Sullivan Christ- mas Tournament, downing the Eagles 74-65 and reversing roles from last season's championship game. The Guvs grabbed the tourney crown with strong rebounding, tenacious play and fine shooting from every section of the court. H.H.S. went all the way to Central Jersey, but were downed in a heart breaking game against their rough opponents, Henry Hudson. Although we were defeated, congratulations Governors on a successful season resulting in a 22-4 record.
