in-o vs.. Home Economics J The classes conducted by the Home Economics department are designed primarily for Carey's future housewives. Courses such as cooking and sewing provide a girl with everything she needs to set up housekeeping except a hus- band. Industrial Arts The basis for Industrial Arts is given in the seventh and eighth g r a d e s through generalized courses. ln the higher grades more specialized elective courses are offered to give students with in- terests in the field the opportunity to develop their skills. I GIRLS' PHYSICAL EDUCATION: Left to right: Miss Adele Cort, Miss Marie Corrado, Mrs. Sandy Sharrin, Mrs. Ann Alagna. Education This department seeks to provide girls with the activities and courses necessary to their physical and mental health. Gym classes geared to the girls' athletic needs offer an opportunity for participation in sports and the development of sportsmanship. I6 Boys' Physical Education Gym instruction is only part ot this department's program. ln addi- tion it offers health classes and driver training courses. After school the staff coaches our schooI's teams. This coaching given the players teaches them the very important trait of func- tioning as a team.

Library The duties of the librarian are many, including checking books in and out, ordering and cataloging them, and helping students in search of material for reports. Though our library is still small, our students, nevertheless, find it most helpful. Junior Arts This department gives special help to children whose needs cannot be met by ordinary classes. lt is designed to meet these needs, preparing its students for a well cldiusted life in school and later in life.
