IOHN LRIDI it IACK MAc11oNALD IAT KUNK1 1 V14 pn mlm nl Iremfull Se 4 rt fury HISTORY OF THE 1951 SENIOR CLASS As we the graduatlng semors of 1951 brmg to a close our seemmgly short years here at Plant Hxgh School we pause a moment for a backward glance before we go forth vuth hugh hopes and worthy ambrtnons to take our place 1n the World of Tomorrow As a firm foundatlon for the role we are to play nn the future we are leaung behmd us at Plant a record of many and varned achxevements to whxth we can p0Int wnth justnhable prnde We wnll long remember the candlelnght cere momes m which our classmates were tapped mto the coveted membershnp of the Natnonal Honor Socxety A great honor was bestowed on the Plant chapter when one of xts members was elected to serve as state presndent for the 1951 conventnon to whnch Plant was host We wxll remember those students who by dar became members of the I Dare You all A club And those who always lent a helpnng hand servnce to the school were rewarded with member shnp rn the Order of the Gold and Black Proof of our capabrllty as future cltxzens l1es m our record of student government wh1ch handled by the Student Councnl Presndent s C1b1 net and Honor Court How we enjoyed the fine plays put on to enter ta1n us by the dramatlc department Those who excelled rn th1s Held were tapped 1nto the Natlonal Thespnans And how memorable were the per formances ln our ovsn class play Our Gxrls Plant students have outstandmg journalnstle and llterary abnlntj We have proved that by the excellent natxonal ratxng of the Pep O Plant ednted by a capable sen1or staff has recenved Also a number of our classmates have won d1SC1I'lCI10Il for thelr entrles m poetry and essay contests Our spmted athletxc teams spurred on by the cheerleaders have made great xmprovements m thelr sports records Recogmtnon for athletxc ablllty was recelved by those who became members of the Lettermens Club Our Hne musxc department has done much for our pleasure Band concerts and an orxgmal operetta wrltten by a Plant senior and presented by the glee club were greatly enjoyed by all The majorettes and flag twnrlers performed thenr rou tunes for us whlle the band played nn assembly t football games and nn parades Many worthwhxle projects for the betterment of the school were undertaken by varnous honor and SBFVILC clubs Some of these are the Key Club the Klvxanettes and the umor Clvxtans Many other clubs such as the Debate Soclety the G O C and the Y Teens have been busy m sponsormg school JCIIVIEICS The R O T C department put on dull parades for the student body The commnssxoned ofhcers and thexr sponsors composed the Saber and Saber ette Clubs The outstandmg socxal event of the year was Panthernlla We wxll never forget the Kung and ueen of Panthernlla 1951 and thelr devoted court and subjects Let us not forget also those who qunetly served us the lunchroom workers mon1tors and office assxstants There are some of our classmates who cannot be wxth us at graduatron These are the boys who are servmg thenr country m the armed forces They are Tommy Adknns Edwm Bradford lmmy Bryan Kexth Mlddleton Robert Patterson Larry Rnnaldl and Blll Spoor Last but not least of our sen1or act1v1t1es IS the annual staff whose talents and energy went mto the maknng of the 51 Panther whnch as the years go by wxll no doubt be read and reread many tlmes by us all Each page w1ll brmg back a hundred pleasant memorles We can never relnve our wonderful days here at Plant Hlgh School but no matter what we do nor where we go m our World of Tomorrow these happy days wxll be a part of us forever Although we have come to the mme when we must say good by to you our schoolmates and teachers we wxll never forget you and Plant Hugh -412 1 ' 2 ' 1 I 2 A rj., , J , x .. . , 3 7 , 3 i .
