JU E CLASS Officers Hkiuus MULLEN President LOUISE RILY Secrvtu ry AMIS KELLY CLASS HISTORY In September 1940, just three short years ago, we started to write a chapter in our book of memories which none of us will ever forget. Since that date, we have risen from lowly Sophomores to illustrious Seniors gaining honors, accomplish- ments, and fame along the road of education. In our Sophomore year, we elected Nell Struss and Mack Loftis as witnesses, and Maid Betty Ann Henderson and Court- ier Bobby Ennis to represent us in Pantherilla Court. In our junior year we elected to Pantherilla nobility Louise Rey and Harris Mullen as witnesses and Nell Struss and Mack Loftis as Maid and Courtier. Then, in our last and greatest year, we fhose Betty Ann Henderson and Harris Mullen as our wit- nesses: Nancy jo Thrower and Bobby Ennis as Maid and Courtier: and as our royal rulers the perennial couple, Queen Neill of the House of Struss and King Mack of the House of Lo tis. Our Sophomore class oiiicers werei president, Mary Ellen Cook: vice-president, Henrietta Trezevant, and secretary, Amis Kelly. The next year we elected Harris Mullen, presi- dentg Louise Rey, secretaryg and Teddy Pitts, vice-president. In our Senior year, our student leaders were: Harris Mullen, president, Amis Kelly, vice-president, and Louise Rey, sec- retary. On the football gridiron we have been ably represented by Billy Lowry, Harris Mullen, Bobby Ennis, Mack Loftis, Teddy Pitts, Olaf Zewadski, Johnny Owings, John Moore, Bobby Bryant, and Corbin Glos. Basketballers that have gained recognition for our renowned class were: Bobby Ennis, Amis Kelly, Billy Lowry, Teddy Pitts, and jimmy Williford. Our track stars included Bobby Ennis, Harris Mullen, Corbin Glos, john Moore, and Olaf Zewadski. Also in our last year, Amis Kelly, Billy Lowry and Bobby Ennis helped to make Plant proud of her first baseball team. Our girls who cheered the teams on to victory as cheerlead- ers were: Bookie McMichael, Margaret Bennett, jean La- Mott, Henrietta Trezevant, and Duina Zacchini. And too, we were honored to have champion baton-twirler Margaret Diamond leading our band. Many of our number were honored by being chosen R.O.T.C. sponsors. They were: Louise McMichael, Betsy Hahn, Nancy ,Io Thrower, Nell Struss, Henrietta Trezevant, Tootsie Carte, Dottie Phillips, Marjorie Woodbery, Tootsie Henderson, and Suzanne Stevens. Seniors who received recognition in R.O.T.C. were: John Moore, John Cannon, Joe Calderoni, Henry Lopacinski, Ed Burch, Carl Sauls, Bill Vandivere, and Duncan Walker. We had many active members in the music societies of Plant. Suzanne Stevens, Elinor Rosenthal, Nina Thomas, and Lois McGeachy ably represented us in the Glee Club, while our band members were Robert Cole and Paul Hartung. This Senior Class isn't so dumb either. Our Honor Society members number thirty students. They were: Patsy Adams, Salatha Bagley, Martin Berg, Eleanor Bragg, Eleanor Brooks, jean Marie Bryant, Earlyne Cameron, Betty Jane Chadwick, Josephine Dawkins, Mary Giglia, Betsy Hahn, C. J. Hardee, Hal Holtsinger, Anne Hunter, Mack Loftis, john Moore, Virginia Raysor, Flo Ann Roberts, Nina Thomas, Dolly With- ers, Marjorie Woodbery, Mary Alice Carte, Tom Lenfestey, Sammy Long, Pauline Meyers, Teddy Pitts, Murray Robert- son, Shirley Rodgers, Elinor Rosenthal, and Harry Wickham. We high an' mighty's are really versatile-we have leaders in journalistic work too. The Pep O' Plant honored Virginia Raysor and Hal Holtsinger by naming them Editor- in-chief and assistant Editor-in-chief, respectively. The annual staff has also been skillfully guided in the right chan- nels by editor-in-chief Marjorie Woodbery and assistant editor-in-chief Betty Ann Henderson. Our Civic Club representative was Junior Rotarian john Moore. Thus ends the history of our glorious class. May you, our Alma Mater, always retain and hold dear the memory of the class of '43-because this class will never forget the happy carefree days spent within your stately halls.
