Onward we march together. Faithful we will ever be; No thought of time or weather. Hearts filled with hope and ecstasy Bravely we'll fight our battles, Happily we'll meet success; But the things for which we strive Are honor and happiness. Dedication 4 Activities--------------------9 Academic-------------------25 Athletics------------------65 Organizations--------------77 Advertising----------------93 Dedication In appreciation of Mr. William G. Garrett’s efforts in making Gwinn High a better school, academically, physically, and in spirit, the Gwinner staff dedicates the 1964 Gwinner to him. Due to the location of his office in the past, Mr. Garrett has not been known to many of the senior high students. Now that his work takes place in our building the student body will have the opportunity to know him better and to appreciate his efforts, as have those who have talked and worked with him. 4 Board of Education (left to right): Will- iam Marjomaki, Pres.; Brideson Wills, Asst. A bonfire raised spirits that would last until the game on Sat- urday. A sock-hop wound up the evening's festivities. The Majorettes in their gold- trimmed uniforms led the action the next day, followed by the queen and her court riding in con- vertibles. That afternoon Gwinn played Calumet in the traditional Home- coming game. The boys put forth their best efforts of the year and proved quite a match for Calumet. The final score of Gwinn 6 and Calumet 28 was no true reflection of the hard fought game. In spite of Gw inn's loss, the dance that night was a success. Queen Janice Johnson presented Coach with a boutonniere. K. Wampler, junior attendant; S. Christensen, queen candi- date; and J. Caplett, junior attendant. Peggy Thompson and Sue Craig; sophomore attendants. CHEERLEADERS: S. Nordeen, S. Ritzke, B. LaChance, and G. Terry. Majorettes lead Homecoming Parade under the direction of Cherly Roubal. The Junior Class constructed the winning float for the second year In a row. The elephant was pink with blue tennis shoes and would have stomped the Copper Kings if his nose hadn't been in the way, Cheerleaders lead students in school spirit at the Bonfire. As the graduating class of 1964, we can look back into our high school years and probably recall the same highlights. As freshmen we were the first and last class to be initiated by the seniors. As sopho- mores we were the first to win the float competition at Gwinn's first Homecoming. The class play, OUR TOWN and the prom with the theme of Hawaiian Heaven, will reign as the most important events of our junior year. As seniors we come to the close of our high school days. Although we each have a different road to take, we can each look back and find these memories in our hearts. The Model Towners, under the guidance of Jerry Erickson and Bob Pelkie, had an exceptionally rough schedule and played many very close games. Three losses were by a mere basket and two were very shocking upsets. The squad was seldom outplayed but their general lack of height seemed to be their drawback. The squad was a year older and a year wiser at the season's end and should be a tough team to beat in the 64-65 season. 76 Student Council officers are (seated) Susan Chris- tensen, president; Margie Hampton, treasurer; (standing) Patti Thompson, secretary; Ed Topping, vice-president. This year the staff was split into two sections to in- crease coverage of school life. Quill and Scroll, a national journalism honorary society, has been organized at Gwinn for one year. Its high standards make it an honor to be allowed to join.
