For the outstanding service they have given to our school and community, we, respectfully dedicate this annual to Mr. and Mrs. George D. Gilbert. Mr. Gilbert was superintendent of Forsyth Township Schools for eight years. During his adminstration our school was first accredited by the North Central Association and school children from Austin and Little Lake were brought to Gwinn. Until his retirement in 1952, he served as regional director of the State Department of Public Instruction. He is a member of the State and National Educational Associations and was the first president of the county district. He also is a member of Phi-Delta-Kappa, a national educational honorary society. He has taken an active part in community affairs serving in Community Council, Lions Club, American Legion, Sports- men, County Board of Education, and is a member of First Methodist Church. Mrs. Gilbert has been active in the 4-H Club, First Meth- odist Church, where she is superintendent of the Sunday School, and is a charter member of the Womens' Study Club. 5
