The Speech and Debate Club is organized to further the knowledge of communicative arts. Students engage in speaking competitions throughout Oklahoma and ultimately com- pete for state championships in twelve speaking events. This year the dub has grown to over 40 members, making it one of the largest extracurricular activities in G.H.S. This year the club com- peted successfully in several in- vitational tournaments and won sweepstakes awards at NWOSU, Woodward, and Okeene. Their annual one act play placed third at the regional competition, and they concluded the year with competition at the regional and state tournaments. They also formed a chapter of the National Forensic he ague, allowing them to compete for the opportunity to represent Oklahoma at the Na- tional Speech Tournament in June.
