THE CLASS 0F i959 Brad sh aw, Spon so r. After two years of hard work and study, the class of '58 - '59 reached their goal as nearly 'l4O senior boys and girls began their reign at G. H.S. on September second of the year nineteen hundred and fifty-eight. Chosen leaders were Mike Darrow, president, Nowmen Glenn, vice-pres- ident, Bob Gerlach, treasurer, and Patsy Sanders, secretary. Linda Chappell was appointed class report- er a little later in the year. Arthur A. Kroeger and Mrs. A. D. Bradshaw served faithfully as the class- sponsors. Seniors representing their class in student government were Elton LeHew, Student Council president, Mary Beth Adams and Janie Hoag, Student Council's secretary and treasurer, respectively, and Sam Gray, Student Council reporter. The senior class was also well- represented all year in every field of athlet-ics as there were twenty-two brawny seniors lasting the football season, and six Seniors on the start- ing basketball ten. Seniors also sup- ported wrestling, track, and baseball. Several of the boys were placed on the all-conference team with Gary Cole making the all-state football team and Charles Townsend getting honorable mention. Yes, seniors were found in every athletic event during the school year of '58 - '59. Girls' Staters and Boys' Stat- ers from this class were Sharon Lillie Barrows, Janie Hoag, Mary Beth Adams, Sam Gray, Perry Mikles, Gary Reid, Elton LeHew, Phil Owens, Gary Cole, and Bob Gerlach. Jerry Haws, Robert Zelley, Perry Mikles, Babs Henke Russell, and Mary Beth Adams attended the Oklahoma High- school Institute at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma, while Bob Gerlach and Elton LeHew traveled to Evanston, Illinois for the National Highschool Institutes at Northwestern University where Bob was elected to receive second place key for outstanding work. Several top F. F. A. honors in the state were won by several F. F. A. senior boys. Another honor, the D. A. R. Medal Achievement Award, was won by Janie Hoag. Of course, the seniors had their share of fun during the year. The senior kiddie party on March 3, the senior play, and the iunior-senior prom were all top events on the sen- ior's fun list. As we all know, All good things must come to an end. And so it was the senior class of '58-'59, donning their caps and gowns for commence- ment in May, bid farewell to the dear old halls of G. H. S.
