CLASS HISTORY ln September 1954, eughteen gurls and seven boys entered unto the realm of educatuon whuch follows grammar school Durung our Freshmen year our class was guven the opportunuty to take part un many of the actuvutues, one of whuch was basketball Two of our boys, Bully Poundexter and Howard Reud Dorrus made the varsuty, and Barbara Longhurst was elected cheerleader When the tume came for the Halloween Camuval, we were very eager to have the best stunt Wuth the aud of our sponsor, Mrs Nancy Borchers, we presented a womanless wed dung and won the second pruze of fuve dollars When sprung came we enloyed a pucnuc by a creek, on the farm of Mr and Mrs W C Sumner As we gathered at G H S our sophomore ear we were sorry to see we had lost fuve of our classmates leavung us wuth fourteen gurls an five boys Here, as sophomores, we learned to love and know better the fune lady that was to be our sponsor the last three years of our hugh school lufe, Mrs Nelle Dullery Our sophomore class offucers were as follows Presudent, Tommue Louuse Warren, Vuce Presudent, Bully Poundexter, Secretary, Nan Gregory, Treasurer, Nancy Roper, and Repor ters, Sandra Whute and Ruth Marshall Faye Boyer and Nan Gregory were elected cheerleaders from our class Agaun we were roud to have Howard Reud Dorrus and Bully Poundexter represent our class by playung varsuty a At the close of our sophomore year, the sophomore and lunuor classes went to Pettus Park un Clarksvulle for a pucnuc After the pucnuc we went to a movue We began our lunuor year wuth fourteen gurls and fuve boys Our lunuor offucers were as follows Presudent, Nanc Roper, Vuce Presudent, Tommue Louuse Warren, Secretary, Nan Gregory Treasurer, Lucu le Marshall, and Reporters, Sandra Whute and Ruth Marshall We stull had two of our classmates on the varsuty team The were Bully Poundexter, who was elected co captaun and Howard Reud Dorrus The cheerlea ers that represented our class Our stunt the Grand Ole Uproar won furst pruze at the Halloween Carnuval The Colonual theme for the Junuor Senuor Banquet at the Stage Coach Inn on Aprul 19 honored the seniors, and the faculty were guests Bully Poundexter was an effucuent toast master for thus enloyable affaur Then came the day that had been long wanted for by both the iunuors and the senuors When we gathered early one mornung un May we kept punchung ourselves to see uf we could be dreamung For trul ut was a dream come true We were on our way to Daytona Beach We had worked hard a l ear for thus trup We spent seven wonderful, fulfulled days un the unvugoratung Floruda suns une Our chaperons were Mr and Mrs Wolfe and Mrs Brookshure Our senuor year us one long to be remembered For ut us here that Lunda Camp and John Camp uouned us They had completed theur furst three years of hugh school at Trenton Thus year our offucers were as follows Presudent, Bully Poundexter, Vice Presudent, Howard Reud Dorrus Secretary, Lunda Camp Treasurer, Nancy Roper, and Reporters, Sandra Whute and Faye Boyer Our class colors were gold and lavender Our class flower was the lulac Lunda Camp, Nan Gregory, and Sandra Whute were chosen as cheerleaders from the senuor class Howard Reud Dorrus and Bully Poundexter now captaunl were two basketball players that we were proud to say that they were senuors wuth us We presented our Senuor play un Apr l Those who worked the hardest durung theur hugh school days were Nancy Roper who was Valeductoruan of the Senuor Class of 1958, and Bully Poundexter who was Salutatoruan of the Senuor Class Theur efforts were well rewarded As the Senuor Class of 1958 fconsustung of thurteen gurls and fuve boys, walks down the usle on graduatuon day we wull always have pleasant memorues of Guthrue Hugh School Class Hustoruan, Tommie Louuse Warren 11 E H. ....
