CLASS HISTORY ln nineteen hundred and fifty three fifteen boys and glrls entered the portals of hugh school at Guthrle to begin the second stage of advancement In their lives Now these rowdy boys and giggling gurls were to become young men and women Our Freshman year was one of trlals and trlbulatlons We were here to learn a lot and had a lot to learn Our offlcers were Rlta Siler, President, James Emberton, Vice President, Jack Morgan, Secretary and Treasurer, Belvle Woolsey, Reporter Our sponsor was Mr Bully Wayne Covington As we entered our Sophomore year we looked on the past year with pleasant memories and to the future one with hopefulness We selected as our leaders Pres :dent Tommy Cannon, Vice President, Jim Golden, Secretary, Rita Siler, Report ers, Wanda Ross, and Joyce Wlllls We acquired at this time a wonderful sponsor Mrs Galloway Harper Cannon, Vlce President, Vicky Gardner Secretary, Joyce Willis Treasurer Bobby Frey Reporters, Mary Ruth Reagan and Jack Morgan We gave the Sensors a banquet at the Royal York Hotel In Clarksville Now we have reached the summit In hugh school and look forward to even greater things Our class officers this year are Tommy Cannon, President, Jim Golden, Vice President, James Emberton, Secretary, Jack Morgan, Treasurer Bobby Frey and Charles Crawford, Reporters The only members of our class to enter the flrst grade and complete all their twelve years at Guthrie are Bobby Frey and Jack Morgan Mrs Harper has been our guide and counselor for the past three years, and has taught us many of the fmer thmgs of life We hope we can llve up to the highest expected of each of us We aim to llve fruitful and prosperous lives and thus lend some renown to our Alma Mater Class Historian Jim Golden I0 I I l . - . . CLASS PROPHECY On a hugh hull un the wonderful land of Guthrue you can see a beautuful buuld ung and symbol of knowledge set agaunst the eastern sky For twelve years a group of nune people were assocuated wuth each other and shared many amusung and happy events Last nught as I lay sleepung I dreamed of thus wonderful old place and these nune people and of the role they are playung un the world today I dreamed that I was un the luvung room watchung televusuon and whom dud I see but Tommy Cannon who us now a famous comeduan and emcee Hus program us televused over natuonal and foreugn networks Now I am walkung unto a doctor s clunuc and at the top of the durectory I see Doctor James Golden, Psychuatrust Whule I am wautung to see hum I glance at Lufe magazine and see that he us one of the ten best dressed men un the world and has won destunctuon un hus chosen fueld Next, I see myself walkung down Maun Street un Annapolus, Maryland I see a man I recognuze but he us quute dufferent than when I knew hum He us about sux feet tall and weughs a trum I80 pounds He us dressed un a Navy unuform and has an Admural s unsugnua on hus sleeve Thus us Jack Morgan He tells me he us com mandung offucer at the Naval Academy un Annapolis Eluzabeth Jenkuns was the next member I learned about I dudn t actually see her but Jack told me that she had become quute effucuent un her department at headquarters for the Waves He saud that she had receuved natuonal recognutuon for her servuce to our country Now I dream that I am travelung to the Southwest and as I roll along over the hughway through the beautuful pastureland I come to an old southern mansuon sutuated un the center of a I00 000 acre ranch The maulbox says Mr Charles Crawford Charles us now one of the ruchest cattle kungs un the Unuted States look down on the golf course and see Presudent Malone and Charles playung a few holes of golf Charles s funancual aud to Our Henry was one of the maun factors un gettung hum elected Presudent of the Unuted States The scene changes once agaun and I am un the Pentagon un Washungton where I happen to glance unto an offuce and see none other than Vucky Gardner Vicky us now en loyung a successful busuness career servung as personal secretary to John Foster Dulles She also advuses hum on many duplomatuc controversues, and some tumes accompames hum on hus foreugn mussuons I leave the Dustruct of Columbua and start on another sughtseeung tour and ut takes me to Oak Rudge, Tennessee to see the atomuc research plants Here I learn that the person un charge of all the research us Mary Ruth Reagan She us back at work after her rescue from Communust spues by the F B I She has been chosen the most Important person concerned wu th our natuonal defense today Whule talkung to her I learned that she was rescued by James Emberton, another member of our class James has become one of the most valued men of the F B I and has won natuonal acclaum At thus tume the lungle of the telephone awakens me I answer ut and hear a famuluar sound It us the excuted vouce of a woman shoutung that I must come at once Her husband needs meducal attentuon very badly and so l must go to help hum But l'll always remember thus dream and the wonderful people wuth whom I went to school at Guthrue Hugh A Fantasy by Bobby Frey . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .. . .. . . . . . . l . . . . . . , .. .
