CLASS HISTORY Long long ago 1n the days of our youth 1943 to be exact we Jo1ned the throng of f1rst graders and set out on the Road of Learn1ng In due course of txme twenty one br1ght green freshman crashed the portals of h1gh school W1th 1n a couple of weeks we awakened to the fact that our class should organ1ze We d1d so 1rnmed1ately and elected the follow1ng off1cers Pres1dent Charles Johnson V1ce Pres1dent Marg1e Sm1th Treasurer Roberta W1lk1ns Secretary and Re porter Georg1a Markl1n In 1953 we came back to school not freshman but e1ghteen proud sopho ores str1v1ng ever to follow the example of our ' d1gn1f1ed Senlors' who told us that to be a sen1or 15 great and that knowledge 1S worth str1v1ng for Aga1n we elected the follow1ng off1cers Pres1dent Charles Johnson V1ce Pres1dent Marg1e Sm1th Secretary Jesse Owen Robertson Treasurer Danxel Douglas Reporter Roberta W1lk1ns We were sorry to have lost s1x of our classmates but happy to ga1n Helen Porter Ronald Mart1n and Barbara O'Byran At the begxnmng of our Jun1or year Paul Coppedge jolned our class mak1ng a total of e1ghteen aga1n but on the way we lost B1ll1e Boyer and Rena Gullet Jesse Owen Robertson James Roy Belcher and Johnny Payne made the varslty team and Marg1e Smlth represented our class as cheer leader The offlcers for the year were Pres1dent B1ll1e Boyer V1ce Pres1dent Charles Johnson Secretary Roberta W1l k1ns Treasurer Georg1a Markl1n Reporter Marg1e Sm1th I soc1al affalrs the most enjoyable was the tr1p to the Blue Grass Reg1on Now 1n our sen1or year after loslng Shlrley Weatherspoon and Roberta W1lk1ns we are fourteen What we lack 1n number we make up for 1n fr1endsh1p and fun' Our class off1cers for our sen1or year are Pres1 dent Charles Johnson V1ce Pres1dent Marg1e Sm1th Secretary Georg1a Markl1n Treasurer Johnny Payne Reporter Betty Young Ann Margaret Walker was elected cheer leader and Georg1a Markl1n Edltor mn ch1ef of our annual THE EAGLE and our school paper And now our graduatlon day draws near wh1ch w1ll conclude the h1story of the class of 1955 Where our paths may lead after that we do not know but wherever lt may be we w1ll always remember Guthr1e H1gh School 9 -..- , - , . 1 . . . . . . - . . ... , -on , .-0 , ' ... .
