IILHSS PRUPHEIIU In the year one thousand nine hundred and fifty-four the Senior class of Guthrie High realize that graduation means a separation, and we shall en- ter the land of tomorrow, which will be the beginning of life anew. As the vision of life's picture is presented, we find: Sam Harper happily married, a very prosperous farmer, and owner of a large truck line. Next Emily Johnson, a missionary to Malaya. We see a modern hospital that has been dedicated to her, as a tribute for the outstanding work she has accomplished. , The scene changes to Frank Gill, a noted engineer, who has completed many excellent jobs, the one most interesting being a four-lane highway through Guthrie. After devoting many years of her life to the profession of nursing, we find Mary Frances Warren, a supervisor at Mayo Clinic. The scene now shifts to the living room of a family in Guthrie. Mom and Dad are anticipating their son's appearance on their new television set. The picture is a little b urred at first. Now I recognize Elmer Johnson, tele- vision's most popular comedian, who recently took over Bob Hope's spot on the Pepsodent Show. The picture begins to clear and out of the mist steps a very beautiful young lady. Looking closer I recognize another classmate. She enters a arge building and goes into the main office. On the door is written: Guthrie Star--Editor-in-Chief--Genetta Orr. Owen Banton, better known in athletic circles as Mouse Banton, ob- tained a position as coach at the University of Kentucky, and after serving in that capacity for nearly ten years, finally became professor of science there. The picutre is growing dimmer, but out of the cloud I see another class- mate, Mar aret Ann Johnson, whom we all admired for her personality and her zeal, cfecided to further her education and took a business course. Having completed the course, she became bookkeeper for a large manufacturing company. The scene shifts to an Agriculture Experiment Station. After many years of work in that field, Walter Hill Thomas has come back to his home town and is county agent of Todd County. May this vision of realized ambitions for our class become a happy reality! l

LHST llllll HND TESTHHIEHT UF THE CLHSS UF I954 We, the Senior Class of Guthrie, having reached maturity in wisdom and in years, do hereby make and publish this our last will and testament, bequeathing our worldly possessions as follows: To the Junior Class, we bequeath our most precious possessions, the Faculty, cherish and honor them, and when they have served you, hand them down to your successors with like admonition. To you, oh worthy Juniors, we do also bequeath our dignity, that it may be of service to you, in pos- sessing the privileges of Seniority, those rare but delightful privileges. To the Sophomores, we do give and bequeath our best wishes for a brilliant career, likewise the hope that the remainder of your school days may be peaceful and happy. To the Freshman we leave a certain amount of Senior nerve, which you will need on your long journey to the goal. To the various members of the faculty we make the following bequeaths: To Mr. Malone, we bequeath one science class, with brilliant minds, and with at least one hour to spend on the preparation of each science lesson To Mrs. Smith, we leave our collections of literature, suspicious look- ing books, also a class that has no desire for such reading matter. To Mr. Covington, We leave a school where athletics are not in vogue. To Mrs. Gillum, we leave the trouble of the Junior and Senior banquet. To Mr. Kerr, we leave our sincere gratitude and thanks for his work this year. To Mrs. Coursey, we leave the typewriters, and our sincere apprecia- tions for her patience. Mary Frances Warren leaves her love of boys to Becky Lannom. Iviargaret Ann Johnson leaves her position as Editor-in-Chief of the Eagle to Georgia Marklin. Frank Gill leaves his Beta Club membership to Jimmy White. Owen Banton leaves his worn out books ffrom study, to Charles Johnson. Emily Johnson leaves her love of biology to Mack Howell. Genetta Crr leaves her typing ability to Paul Coppedge. Elmer Johnson leaves his scholarship to Leon Church. Sam Harper leaves his pleasing personality to Kirby Hollingsworth. Walter Thomas leaves his love for cutting stencils to Johnny Payne. 8
