Senior Class Prophecy Mr. john Reta in 1973 came back to Gurley in his Kaiser which he had when he left us. He came back to make a survey on the delicate Seniors of '53, This is what he reported: Mr. Mettlen is still superintendent at G. H. S. He built a new atomic bomb proof schoolhouse so if the school is ever - attacked the students will not be disturbed. This is now a push- button world we live in, so the other day Mr. Mettlen bought a machine that corrects papers so now the teachers will have a chance to catch their breath between classes. Mrs. Carley is still trying to teach the Home Economics girls to sew a straight seam. She also teaches the Kindergarten class. She gets along with the kids better than ever. iShe is a litte childish herself now., Mrs. Knudtson is teaching bookkeeping and is trying to teach the girls how to add figures but the boys don't have any trouble. jack has achieved his ambition of being one of the Mills Brothers. He is now a black faced commedian in the Bojangles Minstrel Show and has them rolling in the aisles with his croon- ing. Dick is medicine man at the same show 'to keep in practice with his line of gab which he must use as a barker in the circus in the summer. P.S. Due to his love of beards he has been dating the bearded lady for the last 15 years. Allen lost his S10 bet to Mrs. K. upon his marriage ll months and Z9 days after graduation. He sits at the corner of Hollywood and Vine and sells pencils to try to make enough to keep his stomach from meeting his backbone. Simon has changed considerably from his high school days of not saying over two or three words a day. He is now filibustering in Congress and a well-known debator. When Congress isn't in session, he helps Dick at the circus because he wants to get ac- quainted with the Snake Charmer. Don is grease monkey for the United Air Lines in Sidney. He got so involved in nuts and bolts that he forgout to let go, and the last we saw of him he was floating along behind hanging on by his monkey wrench yelling--I-Ialp! Halpf His wife, Delores, is quite concerned because his pork chops are getting cold. Eleanor is about to become the wife of a prosperous doctor, but still finds time for taking care of her young patients. This is what she calls an ideal life.
