From the Editors The year 1980-81 has been filled with anxiety and joy, learning experiences and frustrationsg the long hours of work and preparation followed by the ultimate excitement of doing our best and winning, We have watched our country draw closer together as we worked to free our hostages and elect a new president. We as members of the annual staff have also become a closely knit group - laughing and fighting, working and playing, but most of all learning that no one will do our job for us - it is our responsibility. We have learned how much our teachers and administrators care. And we have learned the pain of losing one of our fellow students in sense- less tragedy. We have learned to use each of our talents to put together a common goal in this annual. We have learned that no one person can do it all but as a team no one can stop us. We look forward to new challenges even as this one is complete. Nothing says it quite the same as Another One Bites the Dust . In Memoriam and the winter turns to spring and the spring to summer and still, even as we go about our daily lives, our thoughts still return to one Sunday afternoon in January. And for a moment, our smiles will fade, and a sadness will creep into our hearts. On this Sunday afternoon events took place that would touch the lives of every student and parent at Gunn Jr. High and citi- zens throughout the city and state. We may never understand the reason things happen as they do, and why in one brief moment our friend was taken from us. For one day laughter filled the air, and the next would come no more. This loss was very hard for us - we feel it still! For this was not someone we read about. He was in our class, he was on our team, he was the boy next door. He laughed and talked with us, and shared our hopes and dreams. His memory will live on through us, for we all were touched by his loss. One day the pain and hurt will be gone, and when we remember, we will remember the good times and the happy moments - and we will live each day to the ful- lest, because we can not know what tomorrow will bring. He was our friend . . . and we miss him. In Memoriam: Trey Shelton January 1981 Jeff Jordan TREY SH ELTON Nathan Moore Jeff Jordan TREY SHELTON Nathan Moore
