it auf' A we S The following announcement was made by Jeff Daniels to the student body of Gunn Jr. High at the opening of the day, Jan. 28, 1981. On behalf of the entire student body, it's faculty and staff, as president of this year's student council, I hereby declare this Trey Shelton, Kevin Curnutt Day here at Floyd M. Gunn Jr. High. Today, in memory of Trey Shelton, and in dedication to Kevin Curnutt, we the stu- dent body of Gunn Jr. High have taken care as we dressed this morning, And by our appearance say to the community, we loved this fellow student who has gone from us, and will not forget him. and even now as our other friend struggles to stay alive there in the hospital, we dedicate all our hope and prayers to his recovery W For we are a student body who cares for one another, and hope that all who have come in contact with these, our two friends, and the hurt and pain that has been con- nected wit this tragedy, have grown from the experience. That even now, we can look about, look honestly at one another, and realize how important we are to one another. We are proud of our student body and are pleased that so many dressed in honor of these two. You are the best. As the 1980-81 Gator Tracks goes to the printers, Kevin Curnutt has won his strug- gle for life. With the love and prayers of his family, his friends, and thousands of people everywhere, he improves each day. ,The battle is long and hard . . . and Kevin fights on.
