Wfhile at G.H.S. we have experienced many hours of study and fun. Wl1en we assume the role of alumni of G.H.S., we shall surely remember our principal. . . . Mr. H. Landrum. He has shown unequaled patience and understanding with all our problems, and supported us in all our endeavors. He has always been quick to offer praise for a job well done, or constructive criticism when we have fallen short of goals. His challenge to us to attain outstand- ing scholastic and athletic achievements have helped to make our school one of the finest anywhere . . . one which we are proud to have attended. It is with deep gratitude for outstanding service and guidance that we, the Senior Class of 1958, dedicate our annual to Principal H. Landrum. an-wr' Ill .- MR. Desirable at- tributes of sportsmanship and personal hygiene are emphasized. Physical education students enjoy intra- mural contests in all major sports. Among the school- sponsored sports are football, basketball, track, base- ball, golf, and tennis. Gulfport High is usually out-, standing in athletic competition with other high schools. The play, which was also made into a movie, is a dramatization of the book by Anna Rose Wright. The play centers around the happy, uninhibited Rose family and the three teenagers which they adopt. Room for One Alore shows the audience what remarkable changes love and attention can produce. The characters, ranging from the embittered and rebellious jimmy john to the understanding and loving Mrs. Rose, presented an unusual challenge to the students. The combined efforts of Mrs, H. Under the baton of Mr. Jerald Rooney, the band works uncomplainingly for many long hours to present halftime programs and various types of con- certs. Pep-rallies would certainly not he the same without the band present to stir school spirit. The group not only gives a Christmas concert, but also marches in several school and civic parades. The band serves as an important representative of GHS and should be commended for their fine conduct. The girls perform many clever dance and march routines. By original money-making projects. such as selling candy, this group was able to purchase their smart blue and white uniforms. The long hours of planning and practice with Mrs. LaRose are evident whenever these young ladies appear at a football game or parade. The GHS student body is duly appreciative of this group's performance. llQs Ak. .., s.-m -. 5125.5 f 5 2315:-9,9-5 's.!Q'1gg,.v:v-4, ', 'TKT Band. m-aaa! -ww! -..,.,,,,,,4Qb'wA? 4. , Q. -ef 5 5-52 -' :D ,F -B - - '. - , 'A 553.
