TROY PRICE Because you won the respect and admiration of your students and Gulf Park as a whole . . . Because of your unbiased understanding and deep commitment . . . Because of your concern in your student's understanding . . . Because of your deep-seated interest and the time you take to tutor and instruct . . . Because of your faith in us as young women as well as students . . . Because of your years of loyal service to Gulf Park . . . Because you are outstanding in your chosen Held of study . . . Because you exemplify the ideal teacher . . . And, because we love you . . . To you, Mr. Troy Price, we gratefully dedicate this, the 1970 SEA GULL. IN MEM ORIAM fm-J fy, A! To Mr. Roy T. Gallemore, our Vice-President, we leave to your memory this 1970 SEA GULL with our love and affection. Mr. Gallemore loved Gulf Park and Gulf Park loved him. In fact, it was while on a field trip for Gulf Park College, on October 19, 1969, that he was stricken with a fatal heart attack. While at Gulf Park, Mr. Gallemore rejuvenated the educational philosophy that in order to meet the challenges of the changing world of today, education should provide a woman with a strong incentive for academic achievement as well as the ability to progress in a dynamic society. The memory he leaves with students, faculty, and officials is that of a true friend. He lived his life so fully that it was good, accomplished, and tempered with happiness. Death will not diminish the legacy of his life. Z-fx , , ,JN f 'KV4' K. 0 'x 0-JZ -.. I,- W5 1 F D v U f w X 'X H2 K rf A 4 -J I Q if 15 Q :L 'E' ,, 41- 2 I I 1E-Ei? fi P! 5 3 L Li f g- . Through their efforts a great institution yet lives and continues to play a vital role in the nation's educational program. We of the Administration humbly thank all who have helped Gulf Park College regain her strength after her triumphant battle with this savage storm. Muff. ACAD MIC VICE PRES and DEA of COLLEGE Since his arrival to Gulf Park, Dean Pierce has been a cohesive and dominating force. His educational philosophy of a private liberal arts college providing something about a lot of things and a lot about somethings explains his attempt to bring the best of both the traditional liberal program and the vocational program into our curriculum. Well-versed in the coming trends and purposes of junior colleges, Dean Pierce strives to permit and encourage each student to pursue educational opportunities to the fullest extent of her capabilities to assure preparation for both an intellectually and morally satisfying life and a productive career. Dean Pierce always has time to listen to the problems of faculty and students alike, from the perplexing frustration and fear of anticipating the future of a girl trying to declare a major and decide an university to transfer to or to the simple change of a class schedule. He is responsible for stimulating the seriousness of cooperative efforts of students and faculty in fulfilling individual educational goals. 7-4 Neff! DAVID J. PIERCE X DEA 0 STUDE The challenging job of Dean of Students demands patience, understanding, decisions, counselling, diplomacy, and impartiality. As Gulf Park's Dean of Students, Miss Laura L. Norris employs all of these virtues in dealing with all situations arising on campus. Teamed with the Student Government, Dean Norris is active in helping the progress of Gulf Park by uniting the wishes of the students with those of the administration. Her willingness to aid every student, her untiring devotion to duty, and her capable manner makes her a favorite with the entirety of the student body. Dean Norris is never too busy to discuss any problem. Her great interest in academic achievement and in student activities reflects her every action. Through her conscientious efforts Dean Norris has brought to Gulf Park a minimum of chaos and a maximum of contentment. LAURA L. NORRIS ASSISTAJVT DE of ST UD Assistant Dean of Students, Mrs. Lois M. Ferrell, is popular among the student body due to the pride which she holds for Gulf Park and its students. She is one of the most active figures on campus as she schedules and plans the many activities pertaining to social life. She is also concerned with the housing of students and busies herself with informing students of all happenings on campus. Mrs. Ferrell is dedicated to the happiness of all Gulf Park students. Combining competence with skill, Mr. Holladay executes his duties as business manager with great efiiciency. H-is warm personality and his perpetual willingness to help straighten out any- problems arising in the financial department make him quite indispensable on our campus. Due to his stamina, patience, and hard work, Gulf Park was able to survive Hurricane Camille to emerge as a greater institution. GEORGE H. R4 Sororities spread Christmas cheer. 11 'flfvh-W.-ffm.-as, Sorority members help children have the Merriest Christmas ever. The year of 1969-1970 was recorded as a year of sorority excellence. Due to the wcrrk and careful planning of the six presidents, the year of sisterhoods got off to a slow but sure start. This year the dimension of community interest was added to the schedule in the children's Christmas Party and entertaining rest homes. The members competed in sports activities, Sing-Song, scholastics, and scrap-book. The activities reflected the exuberance of each sorority and helped to make this a most successful year.
