An education is merely a basic foundation upon which we build our judgments, our desires, and our goals. We cannot, by ourselves, climb to greater spiritual knowledge. We must have something that compels us to climb higher. Unless we have learned to conquer ourselves, our environment, and our experience, we cannot win life itself. Learning is immeasurable. It has been gratifying to me to observe the student's awakening interest in national and international affairs and in their own Student Government. Gallemore is firm in his belief that there will always be a definite need for the private wornen's college. To successfully meet the challenges of the changing world of today, education should provide a woman with a strong incentive for academic achievement as well as the ability to be supple in a mobile society. After graduation, these two attributes will be most vital in helping her attain success in any field in which she chooses to work. Education for women should not be equated with that of men since they play such diverse roles in society. Education is a mustg learning is a privilege and a responsibility. ff I -V' ' y' A li Alxilfif f QS- ff ., ,.,....v..l.,. ..--qu--ph-minunv--1lIlI , 5 Q? 525 FZ 22' i 5 l ii Nm' M ,mt P' ,, , , 96413 ., X M , lr lp i' lg I s The Dean of Students, Mrs. Lois M. Ferrell, is a favorite among the student body. Perhaps her popularity is due to her understanding and fairness in dealing with student problems, or perhaps it is the pride which she holds for Gulf Park and its students, Her achievements are recognized throughout the school. She meets every responsibility with a firm hand and wise judgment showing a keen interest in maintaining the standards of our college. By sharing her years of knowledge and experience with others, she has gained many friends. Because of her high ideals and determination, she is considered worthy of our admiration. Certainly, a good college becomes a great one with a strong Dean of Students to lead its enrollees. 18 BEAN UP STUDENTS MRS. LOIS M. FERRELL BUSINESS MANAGER MR. GEORGE H. HOLLADAY When one hears the name George Holladay, she immediately associates it with the old saying, A penny saved is a penny earned' Combining competence with skill, Mr. Holladay executes his duties as business manager with great efficiency. His warm personality and his willingness to help straighten out any problems which may arise in the financial department make him quite indispensable on our campus.
