Those who enter my shadow are supposed to remain friends for life, no matter where fate may take them in after years. I can tell you, without betraying secrets, that there is not an alumna of Gulf Park College, regardless of when she graduated, who does not possess, tucked away somewhere among her keepsakes and treasures, a twig, a leaf, or an acorn that came out of my heart. And when I am too old to bear leaves and acorns, I wish to be felled-fashioned into timber and converted into a summer house where the girls of Gulf Park can foregather and exchange confidences of youth. 5 Anonymous .Q f 'nxt ff. 3 fl' .Lf Jw, I '.av xml -an 1 Psi F5 'L X M., ,E si 'Sa if fa. 1 1 2 aa' wi A ,1 0,7 . i if 1 3 fx A Ii if S XV f N. i 5 .f- w 1 A song shared with friends. She was returning to Gulf Park from Fort Worth, Texas, where she spent Thanksgiving with her family. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Retz. A memorial service, attended by the students, faculty, staff, and adininistra- tion, was held at Gulf Park College on November 28th. Funeral services were conducted at All Saints Episcopal Church on November 29th in Fort Worth. Of a quiet manner, with a warm, instant smile, Diane was quick and glad to cooperate with her peers in extra-curricular activities. Her instructors espe- cially remember her as a consistent and conscientious performer in academics. The memory Diane leaves with students, faculty, and officials is that of a warm friend. She lived her brief life so fully that it was good, accomplished, and tempered with happiness. Death will not diminish the legacy of her life. 16 H L I Nobody told me not to wear a formal. JOHNSON f As a father of three daughters and a son, Mr. Johnson is eminently qualified to counsel the girls at Gulf Park. Dean Johnson, as he is better known, has proved himself capable of discharging the duties of Dean of the College with kindness and understanding. This posi- tion is not an easy or a simple one, and it takes the acme of patience. ? ' 3.'9- ,alumni W-nav His office and willing ear are open to all who need help and advice. Although his duties involve wise utilization of time, he is never too busy to discuss a problem with a student. He readily listens to all sides of a question and willingly grants all reasonable requests. We are proud to have as our friend and Academic Dean, Mr. Johnson. J, -. The position of Dean of Students is not an easy one, for it demands patience and under- standing. As Gulf Park's Dean of Women, Mrs. Lois Ferrell employs both of these virtues in dealing with all situations which arise on campus. Her willingness to aid every student, her untiring devotion to duty, and the capable manner in which she executes her duties of office make her a favorite with the student body. Mrs. Ferrell is never too busy to discuss any problem which a student may have. Her great interest in academic achievement and in stu- dent activities reflects her every action. She has instilled within the entire student body a sense of responsibility and pride in the accom- plishments of our college. Because of her high ideals and fair decisions, she is certainly worthy of our thanks and praise. As all students enter and leave Gulf Park, they invariably become better individ- uals, because Mrs. Ferrell has touched their lives. D p DE!-iN UF TT , STUDENTS Mrs. Lois M. Ferrell rs ? 4 5 if . .
