DEDICATIO a l l MISS BONNIE SHARP Truly an iron hand in a velvet glove . . . Achieving and maintaining an equal balance between the typical college girl and the mature teacher and leader . . . Winsome laugh and impish smile sometimes used to cover her troubles . . . Unselfishly giving her time to chaperone weekend trips to Huck . , . Equestrienne unequaled . . . Loyally wearing her battered old sailor cap . . . The black riding habit with the starched white shirt and that usaucy, red how tie , . . Sponsor of the Senior Class . . . llnaware of her magnetic charm and her idolizing circle of admirers. Miss Bonnie Sharp, we the SEA GULI. Staff of 1956 are honored to dedicate this annual to you in appreciation for all you have contributed to the students, faculty. and school. To us, you are a truly memorable person, for by quiet example, you have shaped our futures more than you realize and captured parts of our hearts forever. 17

i I 5 1 I 1 l A i E MEMORIAM ROY HUDGENS We remember Mr. Hudgens as a teacher and friend who endeared himself to Gulf Park in a way not soon to be forgotten. To express in a few words a resume of the memories each of us holds of Mr. Hudgens cannot possibly be done. We can only try to present some of the more memorable qualities shared by us all. His genuine love' for his work, eagerness to help, and patient teaching generated to all-students and faculty-the warm and happy feeling of a good life. His ef- forts to formulate in our minds a better understanding of creation. the world we live in. and ourselves showed his immense inte-rest in his fellow man. His sense of humor. delight in everything around him, love for the ridiculous not only kept his sense of proportions balanced but helped us keep ours. We know not, understand not the reasons for his death. We know and under- stand our feelings of grief at having lost a teacher and friend. 16

By substituting oneself for the actual person pictured, by adding details here and subtracting there, every girl has a photographic diary of her time spent here. No year- book, however, can do more than present the tangible part and suggest the intangible part of college life. The changes that take place in the individual, through new associations, ideas, and environment, cannot be snapped by the camera, yet the importance of these changes cannot be minimized. Here with the SEA GULL before her is an opportunity for each Gulf Park girl, at any time of her life, to recall not only cam- pus life as it was but herself as she Was. And if through these recollec- tions come more than nostalgic memories, if with them comes a rededi- cation to principles found here, then both the SEA GULL staff and Gulf Park College will be highly complimented. 6
