Clara Williams, Division Chairman, announces the introduction of course- Practical Nursing Seminar, which is set to meet the needs of PNE students who have not met graduation requirements in the prescribed twelve months, or those who need additional study before licensure exam. DR. SCRUGGS JOINS DENTAL SCIENCE STAFF AS ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR Retired Navy Captain, Charles Scruggs is the newest member of the Dental Science Faculty. The appointment of Dr. Scruggs as Associate Director was announced by Dr. George Mayer, Chairman, at the September Faculty Staff meeting. In addition to the expansion of the Director staff, the Dental Science Department has expanded its teaching methodology to include audio-visual utilization, team teaching, and programmed instruction. A recording of time spent on teaching units aimed at the elemination of superceded information and techniques, is being employed to bette! meet the objectives of the Dental Department: to prepare the Dental Hygenist for licensure, and the Dental Assistant for certification. oe Py. A To incorporate training foi expanded duties, Theory Foundation, Laboratory Practice, and Clinical Application have been included in the curriculum.

ENGLISH SOCIAL SCIENCE DIVISION GETS NEW INSTRUCTORS, EQUIPMENT, AND COURSE CHANGES Three new instructors have joined the English Social ocience Division. They are: Sharon Stover from Charlotte; Elizabeth C. Collier, formerly of McDowell Tech; and Ronald G. Hughes, a current doctoral candidate in psychology at UNC-G. The Speech Department has new tape recording and video-tape equipment for use by students. This equipment enables students to view and hear themselves in various speech situations, thus aiding them in improving their speaking abilities. Mr. Bradford Jenkins is teaching a new literature course which will be the basis for other courses such as short stories and modern drama. 50 esd Ke aa oA,
