A lot of ground has been broken on GTI’s Jamestown campus since 1968 when the con- temporary design and structure of the Library- Classrooms Building broke the skyline and atmosphere of a setting previously dominated by a tuberculosis hospital. More ground was broken in 1969 to make way for a Health-Science Building, and that was followed by a Technical Laboratories Building in 1971. GTI students and personnel began the new year of 1973 with still more groundbreaking ceremonies which officially began construction of the Institute’s largest building project to date --a $3.3 million complex featuring a Campus Center and a Learning Resource Center. Guilford Technical Institute’s construction growth is indicative of it’s growth in student enrollment and curriculum offerings. Campus curriculum enrollment alone has increased from 798 students (unduplicated headcount) five years ago to a count of 2,493 during the 1971-72 academic year. Curriculum offerings now include curriculum programs in 12 areas. A Continuing Education Division of GTI offers adult high school diploma programs, adult general enrichment courses, occupa- tional extension programs for business and industry, guided studies, and a Learning Laboratory.
