| TOP NOTCH SPEAKERS Honorary members initiated at dinner. Phi Rho Pi, a National Forensic Honorary, was founded in Michigan in 1928. The local North Carolina Omicron Chapter was begun in 1968 and has the purpose of recognizing the achievement of students who have earned or demonstrated distinction in all forms of public speaking. The history of GTI’s chapter is a distinguished one. Phi Rho Pi students have appeared at various civic organizations, have directed and participated in plays, have appeared on television, and have won regional and national speech honors, including a second and third place in two national speaking contests. The local chapter is advised by Miss Menke and Mrs. McGlohon, assisted by the members of the English Department, and has among its honorary members Mr. Waldroup, Mrs. Simone, Miss Bailey, Mrs. Bell, and Dr. Medlin.
