Gridders' teamwork earns first place tie. This year's varsity gridders used teamwork to get a first-place tie in the conference and an eleventh place ranking in the state. Not blessed with much size, the team depended on quickness and determination. As a unit, the offense played the triple-option better than any previous team. The outstanding defense was a product of combined effort of the play- ers. Coach Larry Smith said this year's de- fensemen were the best gang tacklers in the history of the school. Four boys, Rick Borow- ski, '74, Steve Clark, Tim Donahue, and Mark King, all '73, made the all-conference team. Helped by a few forfeits the J.V. team com- piled an undefeated and untied season. The sophomores had a disappointing season, but showed promise in the running of the triple- option. Two of their losses were by just a few points. Both Freshman teams had trouble at the beginning of the season, but got untracked later on and ended up with winning records.
