Sabre and Spurs members take an early morning ride. Sabre and Spurs enjoys trail rides This year's Sabre and Spurs club had a busy season. Sponsored by Nlr. Joseph Orlicki, the club held its first of many trail rides early in the fall. The club traveled to many locations including Hanson's Hideaway and White Pines State Park to ride. Though all the members didn't own horses, they had fun getting togeth- er to talk about horses. ln addition to trail rides and meetings, Sabre and Spurs spon- sored an after-game dance last fall. ...Q FTA investigates aspects of teaching Experience has been the key word in FTA CFu- ture Teachers of Americaj. The club, spon- sored by Mr. and Mrs. Stuart Munson, tried to let those interested in teaching get an idea of what the job involves. Many of the members worked at Guilford as teacher assistants. The work involved grading papers, mimeoghaph- ing, and teaching classes. The girls went on fieldtrips to area colleges where they were giv- en tours of the campuses and an opportunity to talk with faculty members. THIRD 78 Associations Steaks, mud part of R-Club's initiation A highlight of this year's R-Club activities was a trip to see the Chicago Bulls-Atlanta Hawks basketball game last January. The club also held a bake sale and sold stadium cushions at basketball games and track meets. One of the final events of the year was the initiation, held in the spring, which featured a tug-o-war, a mud fight, and a steak-fry. Membership in R- Club, sponsored by Mr. Norman Erickson and Mr. Larry Friel, was open to all sophomore, junior varsity, and varsity letter-winners. R CLUB OFFICERS TOP TO BOTTOM: B.
