Respect is one goal of the ROTC program The ROTC commanders have found that being a gentleman and a good soldier are equally important, and that both possess the same qualities. They trained their students to lead, to obey orders, and to show respect. ROTC membership is open to girls as well as boys. As sponsors, the girls have assisted the sargeant and company commanders with their duties. During the year, ROTC drill and rifle teams participated in competition with units from other Rockford high schools. All members of ROTC marched in the Veteran's Day and Memorial Day parades. The social highlight of their year was the Military Ball, held in the spring. All members of the high school units and their dates were invited. 70 Associations ROTC COLOR GUARD: T. Elling, P.
