Freshman Girl's Choir is a musical orienta- tion course in which the fundamentals of music and voice production are stressed. The choir sings a wide variety of S.S.A. music. It does not, however, publically perform. Under the direction of Mrs. Ruth Gustafson and an assistant director from A Cappella choir, the class meets twice a week for 45 minutes. This year the choir consists of 25 members. The officers are Carol Rundstrum, president, Betty Anderson, vice- presidentg and Orlina johnson, secretary. .- .... sn.. Folk Music Appreciation is newly formed class and club of Guilford High School. The club met five days a week as a half credit subject. It was established to better understand the concepts of Folk Dance and Folk Music. Also included in its line of study were the culture and traditions of countries from which dances are derived. Under the direction of Mrs. Ruth Gustafson, the Viking dancers appear in public performances and at private parties. The club is open to anyone interested in folk song and dance and willing to give up some study time.

Veroni a a Under the direction of Mr. Dennis Blunt, the Guilford Orchestra provides music at several assemblies, participates in the All-City Orchestra Festival, presents a Christmas and a Spring Concert, and trains students in wind and string techniques. This year the Orchestra launched its uniform drive in the fall, and by the Spring Concert the students were wearing Columbia blue blazers. To raise money for these, the Orchestra members sold World's Finest Chocolates, presented a subscription con- cert, and sponsored an after-game dance.
