Established four years ago, the club boasted fifty members and had the best potential of former Guilford Chess teams. An active organization, the club sponsored a school tournament and hosted the Northern Illinois Invitation- al-a gathering of twenty-five teams from all over the state for stiff competitive chess. The club also partici- pated in many interscholastic matches and the Boylan Big 8 Tournament of which Guilford was the defending champion. A faculty-student chess match was a new and interesting addition to the Chess Club's activities. Sponsoring the club was Mr. Gary McLamarrah, and Allen Kemp served as president, Bob Floden as vice-president, and Chuck Peterson as treasurer. CHESS TEAM RECORD Guilford 7 Ft. Atkinson H.S.
